TERRITORY OF ORIGIN

TERROR

We are in Alto Adige, an area very suitable for the production of white and red wines. The vineyards of Alto Adige are located at an altitude between 200 and 1000 meters and the vines grow on very different soils. The native Lagrein variety, for example, prefers warm gravelly or sandy soils, while the local Gewürztraminer vine expresses its best on clayey and very calcareous soils .

The stony soils of dolomitic limestone are unique, especially widespread in the southern reaches of the Wine Route and which originate from the famous mountain massif of the Dolomites, a UNESCO universal heritage site . Thanks to their mineral characteristics , these warm and very permeable soils are especially ideal for producing full-bodied white wines with a strong flavour.

CELLAR

The Maso Villscheider is a farm located in the mountains, on the left bank of the Isarco, above Bressanone.

Since 1997 Florian, Erika and Meinrad have managed the company. What strikes you when visiting the company is the passion that this family transmits, always combined with good humor and hospitality. The heavy work does not dampen, in the attitude of this family, the sympathy and importance assigned to relationships. They cultivate a small plot: 8 hectares of orchard and just 4 vineyards, which produce a small and precious production of 25,000-30,000 bottles a year.

The area has been known for centuries for the production of excellent white wines and the Hilpold family has decided to focus on three great varieties such as zweigelt, sylvaner, kerner and riesling. The Villscheider brand is synonymous with fresh and fragrant wines, faithful expressions of the splendid mountain area of Alto Adige.
