NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 of a beautiful pale yellow with golden reflections;

👃🏻 the nose expresses a rich fruity bouquet, notes of honey and hints of pistachios and almonds;

👄 on the palate it has an excellent freshness, fine and very balanced.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This Zierfandel is a very fruity wine with a great balance. It loves fresh, light and not too spicy dishes. Ideal to accompany fish and seafood dishes, it also pairs well with foie gras and Asian cuisine.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

This Austrian Wine from Piriwe winery comes from pure Zierfandler grapes; mainly grown in the Thermenregion wine region of Austria, the Zierfandler is obtained from the cross between Roter Veltliner and a second unknown variety, probably the Traminer.

LOYOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its harmony and balance.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Austria, which in the last 20 years has been able to build a solid reputation as a producer country strongly oriented towards quality by exploiting the great potential of its terroir, in which white grape varieties are able to express their varietal notes very well. The climate is mainly continental and cold in the northern regions, but it is almost Mediterranean in the southern ones. Compared to Germany, the average temperatures are considerably higher and allow for the production of warmer and more robust wines but less rich in sugar. We are in the Thermregion region: grape varieties such as Zierfandel and Rotgipfler are grown here. In the north-eastern part of this region, the clayey-limestone soils favor the cultivation of white varieties, especially Welschriesling and Weissburgunder, while in the southern plain of the Steinfeld, the alluvial gravel allows a better expression of the red grape varieties, such as for example the Blauer portugieser.

WINERY

Austria, today, boasts a wine-growing area of almost 50,000 hectares, cultivated by over 32,000 winemakers who produce a total of over 2 million hectoliters of wine. Due to its microclimate, it is especially suited to the production of white wines, such as Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Traminer and Pinot blanc. It also makes excellent raisins, especially in Burgeland, and wonderful Eiswein, particularly north of Vienna.

The Piriwe has been managed by the same family for four generations and has cultivated nine hectares of vineyards in the very suitable areas of Traiskirchen, Pfaffstätten and Gumpoldskirchen. In 1990 he took over the management of the Josef Piriwe winery, which carries on the original intent of the cellar: to produce authentic wines of the highest quality, in which the distinctive varietal traits and the native territory are perfectly recognizable.
A territory that lends itself well to viticulture and many years of experience allow Josef and his collaborators to produce wines, both white and unique reds. Among these, the Austrian Rotgipfler Klassik and the Austrian Zierfandler Trocken Ouvertüre deserve a mention.
