NOTES FROM OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful intense straw yellow;

👃🏻 the nose expresses broad and fine scents: fruity notes of citrus and floral notes of lavender, orange blossom and rose, combined with Mediterranean hints of aromatic herbs (sage and rosemary);

👄 on the palate it is mineral and fresh, consistent and tasty, soft and balanced. An unforgettable wine.

RECOMMENDED COMBINATION

An aromatic and versatile white; to be combined with fragrant and tasty dishes, but not too structured: appetizers, raw fish, seafood, crustaceans and molluscs; fish first courses.

REFINEMENT

Zibibbo grapes from various plots of volcanic origin with medium loose texture on the island of Ustica between Contrada Spalmatore and Contrada Tramontena; exposure of the North and South-West vineyards; altitude from 0 to 30 meters above sea level. The Hibiscus company has resumed the cultivation of zibibbo and vinifies it cold, with techniques that allow it to safeguard and enhance its aromatic characteristics. 4 months of aging in steel.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

the freshness.

TERRITORY OF ORIGIN

TERROR

We are in Sicily, an area rich in history, art and culture, as well as ancient winemaking traditions. In particular, this wine comes from Salina, the green pearl of the Aeolian Islands.

Sicily is the southernmost region of Italy, as well as the largest island in the Mediterranean. Around there are various islands of volcanic origin, while the eastern part is characterized by the presence of Etna.

The climate is predominantly Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. In the coastal area however, it is subtropical. The climate in the interior, in the presence of the high hills, from 500 meters above sea level, is milder and with notable decreases in average temperatures.

From a geological point of view, the Sicilian region belongs to the African plate. The only exception is for the north-eastern part, that of Messina, which belongs to the Eurasian one, made up of the Apennine-Maghreibi chain.

The sliding of the African plate under the Eurasian one has determined not only the creation of the island's mountainous reliefs, but also the presence of frequent seismic activities, the causes of which are both tectonic and volcanic.

Sicily produces wines with a long history such as Marsala, but also fragrant dessert wines such as Passito di Pantelleria and Malvasia delle Lipari, without forgetting Moscato di Noto and Siracusa, robust red wines and interesting white wines.

These and many other wines are the architects of Sicily's oenological rebirth and have also made the grapes with which they are produced famous, such as Grillo, Catarratto, Inzolia, Zibibbo, Malvasia, Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese.

Today the vineyard area in Sicily is equal to over 100,000 hectares of which 5% is in the mountains, 65% in the hills and the remainder in the plains. The region has only one DOCG (IL Cerasuolo di Vittoria) and 23 DOCs.

CELLAR

A small company on a magical island, the company is the only one to carry out the entire production process, from cultivation to winemaking, on its own vineyards on the island of Ustica. The wines, which taste of the sea and volcanoes, retain all the qualities and flavors of the area's native grapes.

Hibiscus

The production is intimately linked to the territory, unique but also very impervious, which required the use of practices suited to safeguarding it, but as Margherita and Vito, the owners, say «Living on an island is a challenge but also a privilege, as everything that is really interesting." There are just three hectares of vineyards owned.
