TERRITORY OF ORIGIN

TERROR

We are in Irpinia, characterized by a heterogeneous landscape variety, designed by mountains, hills, valleys and plateaus. The territory has a strong and unique identity in the world due to the peculiarities of the subsoil and the climatic conditions. Following the powerful eruption of Vesuvius which occurred several thousand years ago, pyroclastic materials transported by strong winds settled on the territory of Irpinia, giving rise to a thick layer of volcanic materials, which consolidates over the centuries.

Today, the Irpinia terroir presents a great wealth of mineral micronutrients . More superficial layers are formed by stratified limestones, while the hills and valleys are made up of deposits of arenaceous and clayey materials. The soils above all show a well-balanced texture, clay-free, with frequent stonyness. The Mediterranean climate gives the area cold, humid winters and hot summers, with strong temperature variations between day and night.

The balance between climate, vine and soil is perfect. A balance that has become increasingly harmonious over the centuries, giving rise to wines with excellent characteristics, which are characterized by aromatic complexity, a velvety, full and elegant taste, intense and delicate aromas.

CELLAR

La Cantina della Collina is located in Solofra (AV) and has a history that begins in a nineteenth-century farmhouse, located on one of the hills that embrace the city of Solofra and opens towards the Montoro plain in the province of Avellino. The hill is 400 meters above sea level, cultivated with vineyards and olive groves. In these places, which have always been owned by the Buonanno family, Maria Buonanno decided to begin her agricultural adventure.

The first step was to create the agricultural company and the adjoining farmhouse: “Terranova”. The choice of organic was immediate.

The conformation of the hill gave no escape: vineyard positioned on the giropoggio steps and on a steep slope.

They only make wine from their own grapes, processed in the cellar at the top of the hill. The cultivated vines are native Campanian ones: Aglianico, Piedirosso and Greco for three precious and refined labels.

Their philosophy is based on the utmost respect for the integrity of the grape: the wines are vinified and aged in steel or terracotta so as not to influence the typical characteristics of the vine. The small production of the Cantina della Collina is characterized by the freshness and purity of the varietal expressions, the intense, fruity and spicy aromas, with the grape variety as the sole protagonist.
