NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 faint ruby red;

👃🏻 has a fragrant bouquet of red fruits, spices and undergrowth;

👄 the palate is smooth, fresh and aromatic, with the fruit in the foreground. A slight sweetish tone is balanced by acidity and a delicious sour and mineral touch that stimulates drinking.

FOOD PAIRINGS

La Turca de La Montecchia is an excellent everyday wine. Try it with beef carpaccio.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

The recovery of this grape is thanks to the Conti Emo Capodilista winery, La Montecchia: the aim is to breathe new life into an oenological pearl such as turca, a grape variety historically attested in the Padua and Trentino areas, but today practically unknown. After fermentation of the grapes, the wine matures in steel and then ages 4 months in the bottle.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its drinkability.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The winery is located in Veneto, at the foot of the Euganean Hills. In the region, the presence of the mountain ranges and the vast portion of plain gives considerable temperature variations between summer and winter, mitigated near Lake Garda and in the coastal area. Veneto is the leading region in Italy in terms of wine production; it is also rich in indigenous grape varieties, including Garganega, Trebbiano di Soave, prosecco (or Glera) white grapes, Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara and Raboso, and the semi-unknown black berry Turca.
In terms of soils, Veneto has territories characterised by alluvial and volcanic soils, which allows the production of numerous types of wines, from light and drinkable to full-bodied and important wines.
Specifically with regard to the wines of the Euganean Hills, these have been well known since antiquity, cited by Martial in the 1st century AD, who wrote of the 'Euganean districts with the bumps painted and quilted with vines'. There are currently about 2500 hectares of vineyards registered under the Colli Euganei DOC denomination.

WINERY

The La Montecchia winery has belonged to the Emo Capodilista family since the Middle Ages; it is located in the Villa Emo Capodilista, at the foot of the La Montecchia hill. The company cultivates 30 hectares of vineyards, in the heart of the DOC Colli Euganei area, between Selvazzano, with its historic vineyards, and Baone. Today it is managed by Count Giordano Emo Capodilista. Cultivation benefits from the climate mitigated by the sea: the estate's wines are distinguished by their power, refinement and elegance.
The centuries-old bond with the land has led the Emo Capodilista family to embrace an eco-sustainable approach, avoiding the use of chemicals in the vineyard and using clean energy in the cellar. This is why it recently won the EcoFriendly Award, for its commitment to land and vineyard protection projects, and for implementing energy-saving plans. And finally, for producing wines that respect the environment and the health and well-being of consumers.
