ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Montegiorgio, in the province of Fermo. These are still undeveloped lands ofrare beauty, where the vine has found a fertile home and speaks a plural language: native white varieties such as Trebbiano, Passerina and therediscovered Pecorino coexist with the delicate rusticity of the red Sangiovese and the vigorous strength of the black Montepulciano. From the blend of the former comes Falerio and from the latter Rosso Piceno Superiore, wines with astrong territorial vocation that today coexist with Offida DOCG and interesting interpretations of single grape varieties.
The territory is characterised by anearly conversion to organic farming of most of the land dedicated to vineyardsand more, with agricultural work deeply oriented towards respect for nature:all this determines the quality of the wines of the Piceno hills. Here the climate is continental, characterised by cold winters and hot summers; the clayey soils express their maximum potential.

WINERY
Officina del Sole stands on a hill located in Montegiorgio, an area known as Monte Milone. It seems it owes its name to its first owner, centurion Milone, a veteran of the legendary battle of Actium in 31 BC. At that time, Emperor Augustus Caesar gave a piece of land to every war veteran: to Milone he assigned an entire hill for the value shown in battle.

The Estate is the result of the long and meticulous renovation of a farmhouse abandoned for twenty-five years.

Today it stands in the simple harmony of the regularity of the ancient houses, still present in the rural territory that dominates these lands: a true agricultural heritage of the Marche. Natural limestone, terracotta bricks, wood and reused materials from abandoned houses make up the local landscape.

All around: a panoramic view, unforgettable sunsets and plays of light and shadow as far as the eye can see, surrounded by the scents of vineyards, olive groves and orchards. Officina del Sole's wines are the result of careful, delicate and silent fermentations and maturations, with the goal of reaching the highest quality.
The approach is the one of minimal intervention, although in constant and almost maniacal care. Advanced technologies help in a process which is only apparently simple.
There are 14 hectares of cultivated vineyards, which are carefully cared by the winery. pecorino, passerina, verdicchio, lacrima and montepulciano are the regional autochthonous vines; chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, syrah and pinot noir are the international ones selected to best express the characteristics of the terroir.
