Ausonia

It all began in 2005 when Simone Binelli followed his great passion and decided to make wine, with the support of his wife, he enrolled in Viticulture and Enology at the University of Florence. This path led him in 2008 to leave his job as a pharmacist and start cultivating the vineyard.

Thus, Ausonia was born, a small and charming agricultural company in Atri, in the province of Teramo, a winery that favors the typical varieties of the territory: from Pecorino to Trebbiano, to Montepulciano.

Ausonia

All their work is carried out with the utmost respect for nature, and since 2016 the company has been certified biodynamic. Their wines aim to be an expression of their territory and the vintage.

Their wines are produced on 12 hectares of vineyards, all very elegant and expressive, faithful witnesses of the territory and the vintage that saw them born.

Abruzzo

Abruzzo is a very diverse and interesting region, both in terms of the wines produced there and in terms of regional gastronomy.
The presence of vines here dates back to Roman times, and like in many other parts of Italy, the logic of immediate profit was pursued, prioritizing quantity over quality. A decisive change in direction would have to wait until the second half of the 20th century, when the first initiatives aimed at pursuing excellence in agri-food and Abruzzo winemaking began to prioritize quality production and the rediscovery of native grape varieties.

Abruzzo is predominantly mountainous or hilly, bounded to the north by the Tronto River, which marks the border with the Marche, to the east by the Central Apennines which divide it from Lazio, to the south by the Trigno River, beyond which lies Molise, and to the west by the Adriatic Sea.
To the west, we have the mountainous area formed by the Monti della Laga, Gran Sasso, and the Maiella Massif, which gently slopes down to a sub-Apennine hilly area, reaching the Adriatic.

The climate of the region is mild, especially on the Adriatic side.
It becomes more continental as you move inland and with increasing altitude. The average level of precipitation is good, less on the coast and greater inland.

Colline Teramane

The Colline Teramane are a region located in northern Abruzzo. They extend between the majestic heights of the Gran Sasso and the sunny Adriatic coast, creating a picturesque landscape of meticulously maintained vineyards. The unique combination of a particularly favorable soil structure and an excellent microclimate contributes to the production of wines with distinctive organoleptic qualities, which age beautifully.

Here, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOCG is produced, the emblematic wine of this renowned region. It is the only controlled and guaranteed designation of origin (DOCG) in the Abruzzo region. The natural environment helps to impart the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOCG with its unique organoleptic characteristics, including intense aromas and a rich, complex structure.

Vineyards between the Gran Sasso and the Adriatic.
