NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 of a nice pale yellow with greenish reflections;

👃🏻 on the nose it expresses an important bouquet of tropical fruit (pineapple, melon) mixed with very fresh herbaceous hints;

👄 on the palate it has a very nice sapidity, accompanied by a beautiful structure, well balanced by freshness.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This Chardonnay is a fresh, savory and well balanced wine. He pairs well with equally fresh dishes, with a Mediterranean flavor. Excellent in combination with fish food, molluscs and crustaceans, but also poultry and light vegetable first courses.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

100% Chardonnay grown in a small vineyard near the historic farmhouse, on a medium-textured soil tending to limestone. The vines are south-west facing. The harvest is manual. After harvesting, the wine undergoes cryopreservation of the grapes, in refrigerated cells for 10 days at 0° C. After pressing, the "white vinification" takes place at controlled temperature. Then, the wine is aged in steel tanks for 5-6 months.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its sapidity and freshness.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in the Monferrato area, one of the most important wine regions in the world, under Unesco heritage. Among these suggestive hills they produced Barbera, a truly extraordinary, versatile and fresh grape. In Monferrato the vineyards almost entirely cover the summits and slopes of the hills, alternating with small woods, for a highly suggestive landscape. The wide diversity of soils allows for the production of very complex wines, with a broad bouquet. The soils are calcareous-marly, white, light gray or beige in color, rich in calcium carbonate which allow to produce full-bodied wines, intense color (for reds), sometimes with a hint of tuff, suitable for aging; red soils are rich of clay and silt, iron and magnesium oxides, and are excellent for white wines; sands of Asti produce excellent red wines characterized by low acidity and fast maturation. On these soils, in the most dry years vines can suffer water stress problems, since the higher percentage of sand does not allow the soil to retain water.

WINERY

Stella Vini was born during the 1920s, in the municipality of Costigliole d'Asti, in the heart of Monferrato. The first owner was Domenico Stella, who in addition to being a winemaker, was also a cultured music teacher. Since then, the combination of wine and music has been the symbol of the company's winemaking and peasant tradition. The winery has dedicated a Barbera-based red wine and a Chardonnay-based white wine to its founder, both called "Giaiet" (in Piedmontese dialect it means "with reddish-yellow hair"). Today the company owns 12 hectares planted with Barbera, Dolcetto, Grignolino, for red grapes, and Cortese, Chardonnay and Moscato for the white berried varieties. Stella Vini is a family-run business. The current owner Giuseppe Stella and his sons Massimo and Paolo take care of the wine and commercial activities. All the wines produced by the company are either single-variety or native Piedmontese blends. In recent years, new vines have been planted, aimed at strengthening the Barbera, which grows very well in that terroir and gives excellent quality results.

Carattere Insufficente

Un vino che prova in maniera molto lieve a raccontare qualcosa di se stesso, senza riuscirci. Manca di carattere e personalità. Si perde tra molti altri vini della stessa tipologia.
