La Staffa

The owner is Riccardo, born in 1990, a dynamic winemaker who has become a key figure in the Verdicchio area in just 10 years. Located in Contrada Castellaretta, in a hilly region long cultivated with vines, the estate is situated on clay and limestone soils rich in calcium carbonate, which imparts a distinctive minerality to the wines, making them very special.

La Staffa

The wines from La Staffa are a true expression of their terroir, best showcased through meticulous care both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Marche

Viticulture in the Marche has ancient roots dating back to Etruscan times, and over the centuries, it has become an important activity for the local economy, with medieval expansion of cultivation thanks to the Benedictine monks.
The fame of Marche wines spread throughout Europe in the 19th century, only to suffer a crisis due to competition from wines of other Italian regions. It regained prominence only in recent decades, thanks to the rediscovery of native varieties and the introduction of new cultivation and winemaking techniques.

Thanks to its pedoclimatic characteristics, the Marche is particularly suited to viticulture, although the climate varies greatly depending on the arrangement and altitude of the relief. In coastal and southern areas, the climate is Mediterranean, warmer and drier, while in the inland and northern areas, it is continental, with greater temperature variations and the risk of frost.
Soils also vary depending on the subzone: three types of soils can be identified – calcareous soils in the hilly areas, clayey soils in the flat valleys, and sandy soils in the coastal strip.

Jesi

Jesi is a significant wine-growing region in the Marche region, in the province of Ancona. The area features vineyards laid out from west to east, situated between the hills and the Adriatic Sea. The climate is Mediterranean, heavily influenced by the sea.

The Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva DOCG, an important denomination from the area, is a white wine capable of deep evolution over time, known for its great longevity.

Recommended pairings and dishes

Matching by concordance

A wine with great personality, it pairs well with rich fish dishes that can match the intensity of its aromas and flavors. The structure—medium-bodied—and aromatic intensity should be aligned for a harmonious pairing.

Matching by contrast

A muscular and savory white wine that offers versatile pairing options in the kitchen. It can be matched with dishes that have a subtle sweetness, which contrasts with the wine's salinity for a heightened sensory experience. Dishes with a slight richness also pair well, as the acidity cleanses the palate, preparing it for the next bite.

It pairs well with

Oven-baked or grilled fish, stews with a side of vegetables, lobster, shellfish, stockfish, seafood pasta dishes, flavorful vegetables or white ragù, white meats.

Fish Broth

A typical soup made with various types of fish, including shellfish, cooked and flavored with garlic and parsley. A dish of medium structure but very aromatic, intense in character, and with excellent aromatic persistence.

Baked lobster

A delectable seafood main course, rich in flavor yet delicately balanced, and relatively easy to prepare. The gratin topping can be enhanced with butter, aromatic herbs, or even guanciale for more complex variations.
