NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a deep, bright ruby red;

👃🏻 the nose reveals a fruity bouquet (raspberry, sour cherry), floral (violet) and sweet spices (vanilla);

👄 the palate is full-bodied and elegant, warm and enveloping, with a long fruity and floral finish. Very pleasant.

FOOD PAIRINGS

A full-bodied and warm wine, perfect with red meat and game dishes, even enriched with sauces. The spicy notes also make it perfect to try with mature and spicy cheeses. A territorial suggestion? Canederli with butter and sage.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

From a sandy, porphyry soil, hand-harvested Pinot Noir in purity in one of the best vineyards in the Bolzano area, with excellent ventilation, cold nights and sunny days. This very elegant red is aged in French barriques to bring out the warm, deep tones of the grape variety.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

the delicate spicy notes.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Alto Adige, an area highly suited for the production of white and red wines. The Alto Adige vineyards are located at altitudes between 200 and 1000 metres and the vines grow on very different soils. The autochthonous Lagrein variety, for example, prefers warm gravelly or sandy soils, while the local Gewürztraminer grape variety is at its best on clay and very calcareous soils.

Unique are the stony dolomitic limestone soils, which are especially widespread in the southern offshoots of the Wine Route and originate from the famous UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites mountain massif. Thanks to their mineral characteristics, these warm and very permeable soils are ideal for producing full-bodied, strong-tasting white wines.

There are interesting expressions of Pinot Noir in Alto Adige, an international wine that has been reaching Italy since the end of the 19th century and here finds territories in which it can best express itself, thanks to the simultaneous presence of favourable territorial elements in terms of climate and location. Over time, it has carved out an increasingly important place for itself from a qualitative point of view precisely in South Tyrol, where it clearly renders the territorial matrix.

WINERY

The Hans Rottensteiner winery has been producing wine since the mid-twentieth century, with pleasant and authentic products, pursuing a philosophy based on passion for wine-growing and respect for tradition, the land and nature. The estate is located in South Tyrol, in the Alpine valley floor of Bolzano, in a beautiful setting of vine rows and ancient farms. The soil on which their grapes grow is porphyritic, as is typical in the region. This rock, the red stone, gives the Rottensteiners their name.

Founded by Hans Rottensteiner in 1956, it was continued by his son Anton, who increased production and the varieties cultivated and introduced the bottling of his own wine. Today, his son Hannes is also active in the company as winemaker. Rottensteiner's style is characterised by careful and rigorous processing in the vineyard and cellar of local varieties such as schiava and lagrein.
