👃🏻 the nose expresses floral and fruity hints, between hawthorn and tropical fruit, melon and pear, with a nice almond note;

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Sicily, a territory rich in history, art and culture, as well as ancient winemaking traditions. In particular, this wine comes from Salina, the green pearl of the Aeolian Islands.

Sicily is the southernmost region of Italy, as well as the largest island in the Mediterranean. Around there are various islands of volcanic origin, while the eastern part is characterized by the presence of Etna.

The climate is predominantly Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. In the coastal area however, it is subtropical. The climate, in the presence of the high hills, from 500 meters above sea level, of the interior is milder and with significant decreases in average temperatures.

From a geological point of view, the Sicilian region belongs to the African plate. The only exception is for the north-eastern part, that of Messina, which belongs to the Eurasian one, made up of the Apennine-Maghreibide chain.

The sliding of the African plate under the Eurasian one has determined not only the creation of the mountainous reliefs of the island, but also the presence of frequent seismic activities, the causes of which are both tectonic and volcanic.

In Sicily wines with a long history such as Marsala are born, but also fragrant dessert wines such as Passito di Pantelleria and Malvasia delle Lipari, without forgetting Moscato di Noto and Siracusa, robust red wines and interesting white wines.

These and many other wines are the architects of the enological renaissance of Sicily and have also made the grapes with which they are produced famous, such as Grillo, Catarratto, Inzolia, Zibibbo, Malvasia, Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese.

Today the vineyard area of Sicily is equal to over 100,000 hectares of which 5% in the mountains, 65% in the hills and the remainder in the plains. The region has only one DOCG (IL Cerasuolo di Vittoria) and 23 DOCs.

WINERY

Important farm on the island of Salina, the Salvatore D'Amico produces capers and olive oil and creates excellent wines made from autoctonous grapes. These are labels of the highest quality, an authentic expression of the territory that make Sicily dream.

Three and a half hectares are the vineyards that they cultivate, in the Valdichiesa district, with vines that reach forty years of age and which produce straightforward and tasty grapes, from which wines faithful to the terroir are obtained.

The viticulture of Salvatore D'Amico practices a heroic viticulture, with terraced plants cultivated through the restoration of the centuries-old dry stone walls, along which the caper plants grow spontaneously. From its vineyards the company obtains four real oenological pearls: Malvasia delle Lipari D.O.C, Tenuta Ruvoli a Salina Rosso I.G.T., Tenuta Valdichiesa a Salina Bianco I.G.T. and the Léne a Salina Bianco I.G.T.. These are wines of great value, the result of hard work in the vineyard and great knowledge in the cellar.
