NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful intense ruby red colour, tending towards garnet;

👃🏻 on the nose it expresses an intense fruity bouquet (black cherry, blackberry, wild berries and cherry), followed by light spicy notes of leather and underbrush

👄 the palate enters warm and powerful, with well-integrated tannins, dry and elegant, with a nice spicy finish.

FOOD PAIRINGS

A full-bodied red wine that perfectly accompanies equally intense and structured dishes such as savoury first courses like fettuccine al ragù or even braised or stewed red meats, grilled and roasted meats (such as lamb), game and hard cheeses like mature pecorino.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

Manual grape harvest, generally within the first three weeks of October; fermentation with skin maceration for about 30-35 days; ageing in barriques for 6 months and in Slavonian oak casks for 18 months. Maturation continues in the bottle for 9 months.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its structure.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The winery, strictly family-run, is located in the hills of Montefalco, in the green heart of Italy, south of Perugia. A beautiful location, three hundred metres above sea level, on the hillside that kisses the horizon of Trevi and Spoleto. The native Umbrian variety par excellence is cultivated here: Sagrantino. The production area lies in an altitudinal band between 220 m and 470 m above sea level and shows substantially Mediterranean characteristics, with hot but not sultry summers and fairly cold and fairly rainy winters.

Average summer temperatures are 18-23° C while winter temperatures are 4-6° C. All these elements mean that the area has a temperate subcontinental climate. The slope of the vineyard plots and the general exposure is variable, creating a wide range of microclimates and growing conditions. The soils are of a clear clay-limestone matrix, sometimes deeper and sometimes lighter.

WINERY

As in all of central Italy, winemaking began in Umbria with the Etruscan presence and intensive and specialised viticulture began in the 19th century. Best known for its red wines, Umbria has inextricably linked its name to wine production in the Montefalco and Torgiano areas. And the name of the Napolini wine cellar stands out for the quality level of the wines produced, which is absolutely outstanding.

The company is family-run and is located in the hills of Montefalco, in the green heart of Italy, forty kilometres south of Perugia. An enviable position, three hundred metres above sea level, on the hillside that kisses the horizon of Trevi and Spoleto. The cellar's album of memories has a succession similar to that of many others: the production of bulk wine, begun in the 1950s and focused on products for everyday use, gave way in the early 2000s to that of bottled wines. Blessed was the decision!

Napolini wines are appreciated for their genuineness and longevity and every winelover should try them at least once in their life, to realise in a short time that to drink a glass is to experience the essence not only of a wine but of the whole territory.
