NOTES FROM OUR SOMMELIERS
👁 a beautiful ruby red;
👃🏻 on the nose it presents a fine bouquet: it expresses aromas of fruits including raspberry, blackberry, black cherry, blueberry and cassis, with light spicy notes;
👄 on the palate it is a soft, medium-bodied, fresh wine characterized by delicate tannins.
RECOMMENDED COMBINATION
Even if a first glass should be drunk alone, it goes particularly well with meat, especially grilled meat. An advice? Try it with fréginat, a dish similar to pork fricassee prepared with onion and garlic, and served with white beans.
REFINEMENT
Manual harvest, pressing of the grapes with cold stabilization, low temperature fermentation. Refinement in steel only.
YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...
drinkability.
TERRITORY OF ORIGIN
TERROR
We are in Languedoc Roussillon, one of the largest and most productive regions in all of France, with production that has increasingly focused on quality in recent years. The climate is Mediterranean and warm, in France it is one of the most favorable for the cultivation of vines, even if some areas are quite cool, such as the hills of Minervois and Limoux, thanks to the slightly higher altitude.
The soils are mainly calcareous , schistose and stony , which form the characteristic garrigues, a rocky landscape interspersed with lush Mediterranean scrub. In these soils Syrah and Carignan grow well and produce wines rich in structure, tannins and flavor. In the plains the soils are alluvial and fertile and mainly grenache, cinsault and muscat are grown, obtaining wines richer in alcohol.
CELLAR
The Domaine de Saliès stands on an ancient castle, used since the second half of the 20th century by the Gombert family, the current owners.
The Saliès wine estate is located in the heart of the Pays Cathare, close to the Montagne Noire and the Canal du Midi, an important tourist artery also declared a World Heritage Site. The landscape is hilly, characterized by scrub and pine forests.
The estate's grape varieties are ancestrally rooted in the region, such as Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan. Vines of other French origins such as Syrah, Viognier, Sauvignon Mourvèdre are also grown. In addition to local vines, the carefully cultivated production of Chardonnay, Malbec and other vines which have more distant geographical origins but which on these lands produce very particular wines such as Marselane, a very rare vine, is very interesting. cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache .
The quality of the wines produced is based on seeking the full expression of the terroir in which the estate is located, so that each of their varietal wines is authentic.
They cultivate their vines according to the principles of reasoned and sustainable agriculture which is summarized in the phrase "Treat when needed, where needed and with the bare minimum". The evaluation of the health status of the vineyard for the Domaine is essential to preserve the quality of the grapes.
They make wine, produce and take care of the bottling of their wines on the farm, working with great care, with a very rustic and direct approach.
