Feudo Disisa

For over a century, Feudo Disisa has been owned by the Di Lorenzo family and today stands as a benchmark for the quality of its wines in the region. Passed down from father to son, the love and respect for the land remain intact, thanks to the dedication and passion of the family, now in its fifth generation. This history spans over eight centuries, featuring the peoples of the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, and Normans, in a series of encounters, conflicts, cultures, and traditions.

Feudo Disisa

The winery is located close to the vineyards to minimize the stress on the freshly harvested grapes during transportation to the presses. Regarding the grape varieties, Feudo Disisa has always strategically chosen to complement indigenous varieties with international ones. This viticultural kaleidoscope is of great interest and serves as a reference point for the Monreale DOC.

Sicily

Sicilian wine territory is now considered a true continent, thanks to its pedoclimatic variability and rich biodiversity. It is located in the center of the Mediterranean and in the so-called "northern sunbelt," an area between the 30th and 50th parallels north and the 30th and 40th parallels south, where the best conditions of brightness and temperature for vine cultivation are found.

On the smaller islands, given the high temperatures and windy conditions, the typical training system is the "alberello" and its "mixed" versions (for example, on the island of Pantelleria), as well as the "Tendone" system. In the rest of Sicilian territory, however, more than half of the vineyards use espaliers and contre-espaliers. In Sicily, wines with a long history are born, such as Marsala, but also fragrant dessert wines like Passito di Pantelleria and Malvasia delle Lipari, not to mention Moscato di Noto and numerous robust red wines and interesting white wines. There's also Nerello Mascalese, climbing the slopes of Mount Etna.

Monreale

In the captivating area southwest of Palermo lies Monreale, an oenological gem nestled among the hills of Sicily. Here, in 2000, the Monreale DOC denomination was born, an ode to red, rosé, and white wines that capture the soul of this land rich in history and tradition.

The name "Monreale" evokes the wonders of an ancient city perched on a hill facing east, overlooking the fertile Conca d'Oro, famous for its citrus fruits, almonds, and olives.

The grapes that make up these wines are a true testament to the viticultural richness of the region: Nero d'Avola, bold and vigorous, intertwines with the sensuality of Syrah and the rusticity of Perricone. Sangiovese adds a note of elegance, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot bring with them the unmistakable character of great international reds. Pinot Nero, finally, adds a touch of refinement and complexity.

Among the whites, Monreale DOC offers an equally fascinating variety: Inzolia, with its freshness and vivacity, combines with Catarratto, known for its structure and persistence. Grillo carries the scent of spring flowers, while Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco add elegance and finesse, completing the picture of this extraordinary range of wines.

Tasting a Monreale DOC wine is like immersing yourself in a captivating tale of Sicily, where each sip reveals new nuances of taste and history.

"Salsiccia and sanapo" is an intense dish from Sicilian tradition, typically prepared for the feast of San Martino. It features "senape canuta," a pleasantly bitter wild mustard green. The richness and roundness of the sausage blend harmoniously with the slight bitterness of the greens, creating a perfect flavor combination.
