Adelseck

Adelseck Winery has a centuries-old history in the small Nahe wine region, well positioned among the most renowned regions for Riesling production. The river of the same name flows parallel to the Moselle, about 50 km further south. The estate’s vineyards extend along south-facing slopes along the riverbanks.

The versatility of their terroirs (spanning a total of 10 hectares) combined with a natural approach allows them to produce wines with distinct and varied character.

Adelseck

Adelseck produces both full-bodied, robust, and elegant red and white wines, along with others characterized by refreshing acidity and minerality.

These diverse expressions coexist, all reflecting exceptional quality, thanks to the family’s extraordinary winemaking expertise.

Moselle

Viticulture in Germany was introduced by the Romans around the 1st century BC, right on the left bank of the Rhine and along the Moselle. The Moselle is one of the northernmost wine-growing regions in Europe, beyond the 51st parallel, even further north than Alsace and Champagne.

The cold climate results in musts rich in acidity, which not only makes the numerous sweet and Eiswein wines produced in Germany balanced and harmonious, but also gives the local wines a truly unique freshness. The region extends along the course of the eponymous river, from the French border to the point where the Moselle and the Rhine converge, and includes the areas around the two tributary rivers: the Saar and the Ruwer.

Vineyards are generally planted on south-facing slopes to take advantage of the sun and allow the grapes to ripen on steep slopes with inclines of up to 70%. Moselle Rieslings are characterized by an excellent balance and pronounced freshness, which contribute to their great longevity. A peculiarity of Moselle wines is the bottles they are contained in: unlike other German wines, they are bottled in green Rhine bottles instead of brown ones.

Nahe

The Nahe region stretches along the course of the Nahe River, a tributary of the Rhine located south of the Moselle. It is characterized by a mild and well-balanced climate, influenced by the Hunsrück Mountains, with diverse soils such as slate and gneiss. These factors contribute to high-quality viticulture, especially for grape varieties like Riesling, Silvaner, and Müller-Thurgau, which thrive in conditions of freshness and minerality.

In the lower Nahe, where the climate is warmer, Burgundy varietals like Pinot Noir flourish, producing wines with bright red fruit notes and higher levels of sugar. In the upper Nahe, the cooler climate favors Riesling and Müller-Thurgau, resulting in crisp, fruity white wines with balanced acidity.

The Nahe’s long viticultural tradition dates back to Roman times and continues to produce elegant, mineral-driven wines appreciated for their freshness and complexity.

Recommended pairings and dishes

Medium-bodied Riesling pairs well with less structured dishes. Its aromatic profile and spicy notes should be matched by similarity, making it ideal for aromatic and spiced-rich dishes.

Matching by contrast

Riesling’s freshness and acidity effectively contrast rich, fatty dishes like oily fish or creamy sauces: it cleanses the palate and adds lightness.

It pairs well with

White fish, seafood; salads and grilled or cooked vegetables; light soups and broths; vegetable-based first or main courses; white meat.
