NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful intense straw yellow;

👃🏻 aromatic par excellence, on the nose it expresses intense and contrasting scents from peach in syrup and figs to smoky sensations through iodine and caramel;

👄 The palate is taut, fresh and lively, characterised by a slight residual sugar that leaves a clean mouthfeel. Very long and unforgettable finish.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This Riesling is surprising and pairs perfectly with fish of all kinds, in important preparations, first courses and risottos. But a glass should be tasted on its own.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

Pure Riesling from 30-40 year old vines; vinification with indigenous yeasts, ageing in steel for one year and long ageing in the bottle. Unfiltered.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its unmistakable character.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

If there is one wine region that has made Germany famous for wine production the world over, it is certainly the Mosel. Also known as Mosel-Saar-Ruwer and the home of Riesling, the Moselle not only offers one of the most fascinating wine-growing landscapes in the world due to its often difficult environmental conditions, but also represents an avant-garde area in terms of production, which is rethinking the conception of German wine, thanks to a movement of young producers who have invested in an alternative approach in the vineyard and cellar. It is precisely here that Germany saw the beginnings of its wine-growing, thanks to the Romans who planted vines for the production of wine for the troops, since transport from Italy would have been too expensive.

Even today, the best wines in the entire country still come from this area. The continental climate and cold temperatures meant that the best vineyards were laid out close to the river - a fact that prevents frost, releasing accumulated heat in the colder seasons. This is precisely what makes the Moselle vineyard one of the most fascinating in the world, with steep, river-side soils with vertiginous slopes that undoubtedly place the viticulture of this area among those defined as heroic. In this fascinating land wrested from the rock, even the soil reveals a unique nature: on the one hand, the volcanic composition, which has also allowed the maintenance of free-standing vines, and on the other, the schistous stratification of different types of slate, capable of storing heat that is returned to the plants.

WINERY

We are in the heart of the Moselle. The Weingut Molitor winery was founded in 1995 with Achim Molitor and 5 hectares of vineyards in the Mosel, divided between riesling and pinot noir. Important slopes in a beautiful environment allow the vineyards truly excellent exposures. Achim's wines are rigorous and complex, expressing an extraordinary vitality even after long ageing.

His is a family of winegrowers and the work in the vineyard is still traditional and highly respectful: farming is low-intervention, without chemical weedkillers, fertilisers or pesticides; vinification is with indigenous yeasts, spontaneous, the wines are not filtered and no clarification is required.

The winery's wines are fermented in steel, matured on the fine lees still in stainless steel and then bottled to begin long ageing in the bottle.
