NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 of a beautiful pale yellow with golden reflections;

👃🏻 the nose is aromatic, intense and complex, with great finesse enriched by intriguing hints of minerality;

👄 on the palate it is round and fresh. Its structure and acidity make it a very important wine. The finish is mineral.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This Riesling is a wine with a great minerality and character, which is why it loves intense, aromatic and structured dishes. Pair it with cured meats, pork, salmon or tuna. In particular, we recommend it with a typical dish of Alsatian cuisine: the choucroute.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

An Alsatian Riesling produced in a vineyard called "Harth". It is a parcel of only 1 hectare whose soil is characterized by the high presence of small stones dating back to the Quaternary era. The crushing-destemming is soft and the alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. A brief refinement always in steel follows, to guarantee and preserve the quality of the grapes.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its minerality.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Alsace, a land of exceptional wines. Here, the cultivation of the vine was introduced by the Romans and its development increased in the following centuries. The production of Alsatian wines goes through two phases of decline, linked both to the Thirty Years War and to the invasion of phylloxera, two centuries later. The climate is continental, with dry and sunny autumns that allow the maximum concentration of sugar and aromatic substances within the berries and the harvesting of the grapes in full phenolic ripeness.Furthermore, the grapes can also be harvested in late harvest, when the Botrytis Cinerea has carried out its admirable action and enriched the grapes with what will give life to unique, incredibly fragrant wines: the Sélection de Grains Nobles.Another peculiarity of this territory is the sudden variability of the soils: an alternation of granite and limestone, with a myriad of solutions in which clay, schist and gypsum intervene, able to offer the vines much more subtle and intense aromatic nuances, fruity and mineral. Here, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Muscat d'Alsace, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc are grown.

WINERY

Domaine Schoffit is a small pearl hidden in the folds of the Alsatian hills. This winery is located in the south-east of Colmar, on the street called Rue des Aubépines; at first glance one can think to be in front of one of the many good quality wineries that the region is rich in, but it is not only that.
After many years of making wine trade a profession, Meur Bernard and his wife Fabienne bought ten hectares in the Grand Cru and AOC appellations. Old vines, low yields, vinification with soft pressing: a recipe that is only apparently simple but actually effective for creating the great little masterpieces of this Domaine. Moreover, thanks to soils of alluvial and volcanic origin, Harth, Sommerberg and Rangen offer some cornerstones of Alsatian enology with their wines.
