NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 of a beautiful very intense ruby red with violet reflections;

👃🏻 the nose is elegant and complex, reminiscent of blueberry, dried plum and black currant enriched with notes of spices and a slight hint of wood;

👄 on the palate it is elegant, structured, pulpy and decisive, with an impertinent fruit that dominates over every other sensation, warm and enveloping, with a slight hint of wood, it is undoubtedly a wine without compromises.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This Refosco is an intense, complex and persistent red wine that must be paired with fatty, succulent and aromatic food. It goes well with tasty meats, especially with game and pork dishes.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

Refosco grapes are harvested in the vineyards near Corno di Rosazzo. After a soft de-stemming and a careful selection of the bunches, the wine undergoes the maceration on the skins with the extraction of tannins before being traditionally vinified in red. After racking, the malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine ages in 500-liter oak and cherry wood barrels for 12 months. Bottling follows.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its fruity notes.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The winery is located in Nimis in the province of Udine, in the eastern hills of the region. The wines produced in this area are the result of a unique terroir. The optimal pedoclimatic conditions have allowed the cultivation of indigenous vines, born in the Eastern Hills and cultivated here since forever, as well as other varieties from different European areas, which have perfectly adapted, achieving important results in terms of quality. Friuli Colli Orientali production, strictly limited in terms of quantity, is characterized by manual harvests and the discreet use of the most modern oenological techniques; tradition and modernity come together to maintain the integrity of the product, ensure a high standard of quality and above all give unique sensations to the tasting thanks to the centuries-old and happy interaction between winemaker, grape variety and territory. The native vines grown in the Friuli Colli Orientali area are Malvasia, Picolit, Pignolo, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Ribolla gialla, Schioppettino, Tazzelenghe, Tocai friulano and Verduzzo friulano.Some grapes are here since over two thousand years as they are documented since Roman times.

WINERY

The company is a project created by the young sieblings Michele and Cristian Specogna, who in addition to working in the family business (the Specogna farm) a few years ago ventured into a new initiative giving birth to the Toblar winery making wine from grapes mostly purchased from small and highly selected winemakers from the DOC areas of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, the Collio and the Isonzo.The winery is located in the splendid territory of the Friulian Hills, a territory with a high viticultural-enological vocation where the vine has found ideal conditions since Roman times, as in this eastern part of Friuli the climate presents unique and exceptional peculiarities for high quality viticulture. In the space of a few tens of kilometers, in fact, one passes from the Carnic and Julian Alps chain which protect from the cold winds of Northern Europe, to the Adriatic which considerably mitigates the temperatures and this constitutes a great value for the hills of this area which at the same time benefit. Also important is the thermal excursions, as it is fundamental for the organoleptic characteristics of the wine, which are expanded by the winds of the Bora which help to sweep the humidity and preserve the quality of the grapes.
