TERRITORY OF ORIGIN

TERROR

We are in Offida, in the heart of the Picene hills. These are lands of rare beauty, where the vine has found a fertile home and speaks a plural language: the native white grape varieties such as Trebbiano , Passerina and the new-found pecorino coexist with the delicate rusticity of the red Sangiovese and the vigorous strength of the black Montepulciano.

From the blend of the former comes the Falerio and the latter the Rosso Piceno Superiore, both wines with a strong territorial vocation which today coexist with the Offida DOCG and the interesting single-variety interpretations.

The territory is characterized by an early conversion to organic farming of most of the land dedicated to vineyards and beyond, with agricultural work deeply oriented towards respect for nature: all this determines the quality of the wines of the Piceno hills. Here the climate is continental, characterized by cold winters and hot summers; clayey soils express their maximum potential.

CELLAR

The Poderi San Lazzaro company is a family-run winery, in the municipality of Offida, in the heart of Rosso Piceno Superiore.

Founded in 2003 by Paolo Capriotti and Elisetta Carosi, the estate extends over 8 hectares of vineyards, cultivated organically . The objective is always that of the highest quality, respecting the environment and the natural rhythms of the vineyard. They have chosen organic in the vineyard, while in the cellar they operate with few interventions, to express the identity of the territory and the vine in their wines.

The vineyards are 15 kilometers from the Adriatic and just over 20 from the Apennines, and the plants grow at around 300 meters above sea level, enjoying excellent exposures and a microclimate suited to viticulture.

They grow Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Passerina and Pecorino, interpreted at their best without distorting their characteristics. They follow every step in the cellar with care thanks to the contained and functional spaces. The result is excellent wines, among the best in the region, straightforward, without frills, of the highest quality.
