FOOD PAIRINGS

Pecorino Colle Monteverde is a very versatile wine with excellent freshness, flavour and aromatic persistence. For these reasons it goes well with fresh, light and seasonal dishes
In particular, it matches perfectly with fish, shellfish, white meat and cheese.

REFINEMENTS

100% Pecorino whose vineyards were once located along the transhumance routes so that the farmers of the Marche countryside called it "vino de li pecuri" (wine belonging to the sheeps).

The spurred cordon vineyard is 250 metres from the sea and has a lake inside, giving the vines a very special microclimate. Harvesting is by hand, fermentation is in steel. This is followed by refinement in steel and in the bottle.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its versatility, aromaticity and alcoholic structure;

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The area is Montegranaro, in the province of Fermo. These are still undeveloped lands of rare beauty, where the vine has found a fertile home and speaks a plural language: native white varieties such as trebbiano, Passerina and the rediscovered pecorino coexist with the delicate rurality of the red Sangiovese and the vigorous strength of the black montepulciano.

From the blend of the former comes Falerio and from the latter Rosso Piceno Superiore, the wines of the territorial tradition that today coexist with Offida DOCG and the happy and appreciated interpretations of single grape varieties.
One of the first terroirs to convert most of the land dedicated to vineyards (and more) to organic farming, agricultural work that respects nature has always been one of the fundamental aspects of the quality of the wines of the Piceno hills.
Here the climate is continental, characterised by cold winters and very hot summers, in which the clayey soils express their maximum potential.

WINERY

The story begins with Graziano Santucci, who founded the company in 1976, dedicating to his vines the love and attention of a man who works wine with authentic passion.
From this deep attachment to the land, Rio Maggio was born, at the beginning it was a small company, where the core of tradition and knowledge of Graziano was beating. Soon, Graziano began to pass on his knowledge to his son Simone, who, on the death of his father, together with his wife Tiziana, took over the reins of the family business, determined to enhance and exploit its potential.

The winery is among the first in the area to have specialised vineyards, with vines for the production of two important DOC wines in the Marche region (between the production of two important DOC wines in the Marche region (between the provinces of Ascoli Piceno and Macerata): Rosso Piceno and Falerio dei Colli Ascolani.
