Pinsoglio

The Pinsoglio farm is located in Canale, a central area of Roero, in the Madonna dei Cavalli hamlet. We're in the northeastern part of the province of Cuneo, renowned for its rich winemaking history. The area takes its name from the family of the same name that dominated the region for centuries starting from the Middle Ages.

With its lands dating back to the Pliocene period, mainly consisting of marine sands and blue-gray clays, Roero is a unique territory for Italian viticulture. The farm, founded by Oreste Pinsoglio in the 1960s, initially managed various productions, but over time, it focused mainly on vineyards and wine production.

Pinsoglio

In 1997, Fabrizio, Oreste's son, led a significant change in the company, revolutionizing the vineyard processing process and the organization of the cellar. Today, the Pinsoglio company comprises 8 hectares of vineyards that give life to six wine labels, each linked to the peculiarities of the Roero territory.

Pinsoglio's wines faithfully reflect the distinctive character of Roero, thanks to the type and strategic position of the selected vineyards. The "Malinat," named in honor of Tommaso Malinat, from whom the Pinsoglio family purchased the first arneis vineyard, is a white wine with great personality, fresh, and savory. The "Bric La Rondolina," cultivated on a hill dedicated to the vineyard, is the only vineyard that produces the grapes for the company's Barbera d'Alba DOC, a full-bodied and powerful wine both on the nose and on the palate.

Piedmont

In Piedmont, the first traces of viticulture date back to pre-Roman times (precisely to the Bronze Age, around 1500 B.C.), and although today the peak of quality is found in the region's great red wines, Piedmont also produces excellent white wines and sparkling wines.

The role of Piedmont has been fundamental for the development of modern Italian winemaking. It is here that the first examples of zoning of wine-growing areas were recorded, introducing concepts such as terroir and cru to Italian wines. Thanks to zoning, if a wine is produced exclusively from grapes coming from a single vineyard or parcel, the geographical indication appears on the label, increasing its prestige.

In addition to the geographical delineations indicated on the map, Piedmont is divided into 8 zones that group the 16 DOCG and 42 regional DOCs. Among these, we remember in the north the famous Gattinara DOCG and Ghemme DOCG, near Turin the Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG, in Monferrato the Barbera del Monferrato Superiore DOCG, Brachetto d’Acqui DOCG, Dogliani DOCG, Ovada DOCG, Gavi DOCG, and Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, ending with Roero DOCG to the left of the Tanaro river and, in the Langhe region, with the famous Barolo DOCG, Barbaresco DOCG, and Dogliani DOCG.

In Piedmont, the revolution in the world of wine began, bringing Italy back to the forefront of high-quality production. Here, with few exceptions, single-varietal wines are produced, which best express the characteristics of the terroir and magnificently exalt the Piedmontese territory.

Roero

The territory of Roero extends to the left of the Tanaro River, between the plain of Carmagnola and the low hills of Asti.

For centuries, in this area consisting of 19 municipalities, mainly two grape varieties have been cultivated: Nebbiolo and Arneis. Nebbiolo has adapted well to the steeper slopes of the hills, in the leaner and sandier soils, where a fragrant and aromatic wine is obtained, elegant and generous in sensations starting from a beautiful intense ruby red color. On these hills, since the fifteenth century, Arneis has also been produced, acquiring subtle and elegant aromas reminiscent of white flowers and suggestions of fresh fruit from apple to peach to hazelnut.

In June 2014, the territories of Roero, with its unmistakable hills, were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site (along with those of Langhe and Monferrato).

Between the plain of Carmagnola and the gentle hills of Asti, it offers a breathtaking panorama and a wide variety of soils.
