NOTES FROM OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 of a beautiful intense ruby red, with purple reflections;

👃🏻 the nose expresses a fruity bouquet, with small red fruits highlighted (blackberries and blueberries);

👄 on the palate it is full-bodied, sapid and fresh, with never aggressive tannins; pleasant and long finish.

FOOD PAIRINGS

An intense Schioppettino, perfect to taste in combination with rich dishes. Excellent with red meats, spit-roasted meats, game and medium-aged cheeses. Endowed with excellent character, it can also be an excellent meditation wine. Tips in the kitchen? Sweet and sour lamb, duck legs, roast pork with rosemary.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

Schioppettino grapes from a vineyard planted in 2018, with a balance of Pinot Noir from old vines, both organic, harvested by hand in early September. Natural fermentation, without the addition of yeasts, prolonged submerged cap maceration. Ageing in barriques.

YOU'LL LOVE IT FOR...

the pleasantness of the sip.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The winery is located in Friuli Venezia Giulia, in Prepotto where viticulture has been at home for centuries. We are on the hills southeast of Cividale, close to the border with Slovenia. Here, native vines such as Schioppettino and Ribolla Gialla are grown. The area is that of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. These are reliefs of altitudes between 100 and 350 meters above sea level, homogeneous both for climatic conditions and for geological origin. In distant times (35-55 million years ago) the Friuli plain was invaded by the sea and the coasts were almost close to the current Julian Pre-Alps. On the bottom of this archaic lagoon, over the millennia, a slow process of sedimentation took place which gave rise to imposing formations which, with the retreat of the sea, emerged from the waters. These deposits of Eocene origin appear today as an alternation of layers of marls (calcareous clays) and sandstones (calcified sands) with a very typical appearance. Land extraordinarily suited to viticulture due to their position and composition.

WINERY

The Ca Lovisotto winery is a new reality in Prepotto, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli: it is a very small winery in its first vinification. We are within a region, Friuli Venezia Giulia, which has always been linked to wine and its traditions, which, over the last few decades, has known how to establish itself for the quality of its wines.

They cultivate just three hectares and produce three labels: a Ribolla Gialla, a Shioppettino di Prepotto and the Pignolo, totally organic and aged both in barriques and in terracotta amphorae, according to an ancient winemaking technique taken from the Friuli area.

They believe in quality and have decided to immediately focus on organic certification and extreme care both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
