NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIER

👁 a beautiful intense ruby red;

👃🏻 on the nose it expresses complexity and richness of aromas: small red and black fruits, currants and blueberries above all, along with a slight spiciness;

👄 on the palate it is very warm, soft, full-bodied, well balanced and round. Very pleasant.

FOOD PAIRINGS

An intense and complex wine, which goes well with fish first courses, barley soups, fresh cheeses, San Daniele ham and the classic Friulian dish of frico with polenta.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

Grapes of the indigenous grape called Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, produced in the vineyards of Aquileia in the Colombara area, harvested towards the third decade of September and dried in an attic. Only when it reaches the right degree of ripeness does the de-stemming take place and then fermentation in wooden barrels for about 20-40 days depending on the vintage. It is then separated from the pomace and decanted for a few weeks, and then aged for 12 months in 3-hectolitre barriques, 12 months in large barrels and a further year in the bottle. Not filtered.

YOU'LL LOVE IT FOR...

its versatility, complexity and intensity.

WINERY

Tarlao is located in Aquileia, a land of alluvial origin rich in mineral salts, caressed by warm Adriatic influences, appreciated over the millennia for the uniqueness of scents and aromas that are imprinted on the grapes.

The winery has a family tradition, and was founded by Francesco's grandfather, the current owner. To that peasant tradition Francesco today adds an extraordinary competence as an oenologist, gained by studying in the most important wine territories in the world. The production is small and of great quality, made in 6 and a half hectares of vineyards.

The company has developed a wine philosophy that combines the careful enhancement of the typicality of the grapes of the area with the contribution that has come from generations of familiarity with the land and its typical wines.
