Château Haute Terrasse

Château Haute Terrasse is located in Saint Magne de Castillon, near the historic site of the 1453 Battle of Castillon. The winery lies within the Castillon – Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, adjacent to Saint-Émilion. Acquired in 1998 by Pascal and Véronique Bourrigaud, the estate spans 7 hectares of vineyards situated on clay-limestone hills, seamlessly continuing those of Saint-Émilion.

Thanks to its unique terroir, Château Haute Terrasse produces elegant ruby-red wines with aromas of red berries. The soft, fine tannins provide the wines with excellent balance and pronounced elegance.

Château Haute Terrasse

Pascal and Véronique Bourrigaud manage the winery with passion, continuing a family tradition that dates back to the 18th century. Visitors are welcomed at the nearby Château Champion, where they can explore the family's history, taste the wines, and enjoy an authentic oenological experience.

Château Haute Terrasse embodies the elegance and quality of Bordeaux wines, showcasing the unique character of its terroir in every glass.

Bordeaux

The Bordeaux region is one of the most important wine territories in the world. Not only does this region reach dizzying qualitative peaks, but it has consistently maintained those results, year after year, with top-notch quality.

Centuries of tradition and pursuit of quality have raised the bar and made Bordeaux wines famous: in 80% of cases, they are imposing red wines of remarkable structure and power, but there are also examples of botrytized or noble rot wines that complete the oenological panorama and elevate Bordeaux's reputation.

Bordeaux benefits from its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The climate is maritime: mild winters, cool summers, abundant precipitation but very well absorbed by the soil rich in stones, breccia, and sediments. The soils are highly variable on the surface, not particularly fertile, and covered by a thin layer of breccia, while the deeper layers are rich in minerals.

Regarding the classification, most wines are designated as Cru Bourgeois, but otherwise, there is no homogeneous system for the entire region.

Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux is a designation dedicated to red wines, established in 1989 in the eastern part of the Bordeaux region. It takes its name from the town of Castillon-la-Bataille, located along the Dordogne River, renowned for being the site of the decisive 1453 battle that ended English rule over Aquitaine, returning the region to French control after over 300 years.

The area stretches east of Saint-Émilion and north of the Dordogne River, featuring a hilly landscape ideal for viticulture. In 2009, the designation was incorporated into the overarching Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, adopting the name Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux to highlight its territorial identity.

The vineyards cover approximately 3,000 hectares across nine municipalities: Belvès-de-Castillon, Castillon-la-Bataille, Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, Gardegan-et-Tourtirac, Sainte-Colombe, Saint-Genès-de-Castillon, Saint-Philippe-d'Aiguilhe, Les Salles-de-Castillon, and Monbadon. The grape varieties primarily include Merlot (70%), followed by Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), which lend the wines a rich, elegant, and structured character.
