NOTES FROM OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 Bright straw yellow with gold reflections;

👃🏻 the nose expresses a elegant bouquet with hints of yellow peach and ripe exotic fruit, with hints of rosemary and Mediterranean sage;

👄 the palate is characterized by great intensity; enveloping, well balanced in the fresh and savory finish with long persistence.

RECOMMENDED COMBINATION

Excellent as an aperitif and throughout a meal, it can be satisfactorily paired with fish-based dishes, but it also pairs well with medium-aged cheeses and cured meats. Use a flared glass to allow the wine to release all its aromas.

TERRITORY OF ORIGIN

TERROR

Tuscany is unique for growing grapes. The history is centuries old, a civilized land since the times of the Etruscans.

The estate is located in the hilly area of Montebamboli, in the municipality of Massa Marittima, within a suggestive territory between the coasts of the Tuscan Maremma and the heights of the metalliferous hills. These lands located between Grosseto and Siena have been known since Etruscan times for the presence of minerals such as iron, copper, lead, zinc and gypsum deposits. The constant presence of sea breezes, combined with the scarcity of spring rainfall, are the cradle for the perfect ripening of the grapes, giving our wines an unmistakable qualitative note.

The "capitals" of Chianti, however, are the cities of Florence and Siena and its lands extend right between the two provinces: it is 70,000 hectares which entirely include the municipalities of Castellina in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Greve in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and partly those of Barberino Tavarnelle, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Poggibonsi and San Casciano in Val di Pesa. The vineyards are exposed to the south and west at 360-530 meters above sea level. The soil is made up of marly limestone , marl shale, clay shale and, subordinately, sandstone. The skeleton is essentially composed of alberese and galestro, ideal for Sangiovese, and sandstone and clay in some single vineyards such as Casi. Sangiovese, the main grape variety of the region, is a great interpreter of the unique characteristics of the land of the Gallo Nero.

CELLAR

In 2001 Luca Purgatorio decided to start the company, identifying the ideal place to plant vineyards and raise high-quality vines: he found it in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, at the end of a winding road surrounded by thick woods.

40 hectares of wild land overlooking the Gulf of Follonica, rugged and barren, therefore become a selected vineyard.

After twenty years, the winery is a niche reality that has focused heavily on quality, in the vineyard and in the cellar. The recipe is given precisely by the excellence of its wines and by the passion and competence of the people who lead it.
