NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful intense golden yellow;

👃🏻 on the nose it expresses a perfect combination of hints of yellow fruit (such as peach and citrus), white flowers, fragrant notes and again toasted fruit and vanilla;

👄 on the palate it is intense, fresh, with fruity notes pleasantly present even when tasted, a decidedly persistent wine.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This Grechetto is a very fresh wine, with medium body and great flavor. It pairs very well with white meats, risottos, first and second courses based on fish. We recommend it with mushroom risotto.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

The Grechetto vine, from which "Latour a Civitella" is produced, comes from the municipality of Civitella d'Agliano, from clayey soils. The manual harvest allows to obtain excellent bunches that are fermented in steel and then in barrique, where it continues to refine for 9 months, to complete its maturation period in the bottle for another 6 months.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its freshness and fruity notes.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in the Viterbo area, an area bounded to the west by the hills and clayey badlands of Civitella d'Agliano and to the east by the Umbrian plain bathed by the Tiber.
Tuscia lies within a large territory that extends to the far north of the Lazio region; the presence of extinct volcanoes has given rise to a very varied territory both for climate and for the edaphic characteristics of the terrain. Today farmers have the opportunity to grow vines on lava soils with an unparalleled richness of minerals, which give the grapes an extraordinary complexity.
But to get the best out of the grapes, a large territory and excellent soil are not enough, but careful and competent work is also crucial, which is not lacking here at all. The main grape varieties grown are Grechetto, Procanico, Verdello and Drupeggio.

WINERY

Sergio Mottura's winery is located in an area rich in natural resources: it is bordered to the west by the hills and clayey badlands of Civitella d'Agliano and to the east by the Umbrian plain bathed by the Tiber. We are in the province of Viterbo, in an area dedicated to viticulture since the thirteenth century, as the documents attest.
The winery has belonged to the Mottura family since 1933, managed since the 1960s by Sergio Mottura, who has always worked to safeguard the natural heritage while simultaneously modernizing the structure in terms of new facilities and activities in the cellar. The vineyard covers 36 hectares and is spread over volcanic soils rich in minerals. Indigenous varieties are preferred, such as Grechetto, Procanico, Verdello and Drupeggio. The selection of the most suitable clones for winemaking and their cultivation for a long time in the same environment has led to a natural selection of the species that best defend themselves from local pathogens, allowing the elimination of pesticides. The philosophy of the Mottura winery is based on a responsible use of natural resources and cultivates its vines with organic farming.
