NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful garnet red wine;

👃🏻 on the nose it expresses a vanilla and fresh fruity bouquet (cherry and morello cherry), with a peppery and white chocolate finish;

👄 on the palate it is fresh, long, dry and clean, with an excellent tannic closure.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Marco Antonelli Kosmos is a very structured, tannic and persistent wine: for these reasons it pairs very well with food with a strong body. We recommend it with cold cuts and salami, savory first courses, risottos, roasts, grilled red meats, stewed red meats as well as aged cheeses.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

The Kosmos is produced from indigenous Cesanese grapes, produced from vines of over 75 years old in the “Monte Rossa” vineyard located at 450 meters above sea level on Mount Scalambra. The grapes are harvested manually in 15 kg crates in mid-September. Fermentation is in steel and is followed by a 25-day maceration. The refinement consists of 2 months in steel, plus 18 in large barrels and another 12 in the bottle.

its complexity and structure.

ORIGIN:

TERROIR

The winery is located in Olevano Romano. Viticulture here has very ancient origins: already in Roman times the production was vast, so much so as to force the emperor Domitian, in the first century BC, to limit the introduction of new vines to prevent the cultivation of wheat from being overshadowed by the vine. The soils are characterized by their volcanic origin, a fact that gives local wines intense flavor and minerality, as well as a very high quality.

WINERY

Marco Antonelli winery is located in the municipality of Olevano Romano, an ancient medieval village in the south east of the province of Rome. The company's vines enjoy a territory that has unique and distinctive pedoclimatic conditions. Marco Antonelli's two vineyard plots are located at altitude: one is characterized by deep clayey soils, at about 600 meters above sea level, and the other on limestone soils and between 300 and 400 meters above sea level. Only three hectares in all.

The vines are old: over 50 years old, reaching over 75 in the vineyard called “Morra Rossa”. The low yields make it possible to take care of and follow every detail of production with extreme attention, even by adopting rigorous organic methods (although the bio certification is quite recent, from the 2020 vintage). The choice of the winery is to focus on Cesanese, an important indigenous red grape from Lazio to whose preservation and enhancement Marco contributes with great passion.
