NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful ruby colour with violet reflections;

👃🏻 on the nose it expresses hints of fresh fruit, marasca cherry (the wild cherry with a sour taste), currants, blueberries... enriched by scents of spices and aromas of roasting;

👄 the palate is full-bodied with well-presented, silky and spicy tannins; good persistence on the finish.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This is a well-structured wine, perfect to be enjoyed with cured meats, meat-based first courses, barnyard meat, rabbit in porchetta, but also very tasty baked fish. For a vegan solution, try it with savoury pie.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

Hand-picked grapes from the young vineyard located 230 metres above sea level, harvested by hand and placed in small crates. Harvesting takes place at the end of September or even at the beginning of October. Fermentation for 15 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation and maturation for about 8 months in French oak vats. Maturation in bottle for 6 months.
This is the first Rosso Conero Doc wine produced by the winery, named in this way in honour of his father Giulio, the creator of the winery and one of the founding members of the Consorzio per la Tutela del Rosso Conero.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its character.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Camerano, in the province of Ancona.

These are still lands of rare beauty, where the vine has found a fertile home and speaks a plural language: indigenous white varieties such as Trebbiano, Passerina and the rediscovered Pecorino coexist with the delicate rusticity of the red Sangiovese and the vigorous strength of the black Montepulciano.

From the blend of the former comes Falerio and from the latter Rosso Piceno Superiore, wines with a strong territorial vocation that today coexist with Offida DOCG and interesting interpretations from single grape varieties. The area is characterised by an early conversion to organic farming of most of the land dedicated to vineyards and more, with farm work deeply oriented towards respect for nature: all this determines the quality of the wines of the Piceno hills. Here the climate is continental, characterised by cold winters and hot summers; the clay soils express their full potential.

And then there is Rosso Conero, which originates on Monte Conero, 572 metres high above the Adriatic Sea, a unique case on the coast from Trieste to the Gargano. Its district includes a natural park divided between the municipalities of Ancona, Sirolo, Numana and Camerano. This area has a special microclimate influenced by the altitude of the sunny hills and the proximity of the sea, which makes vine cultivation particularly advantageous.

WINERY

Strologo is a small family-run farm, born from a family of farmers who set up their own business in the 1960s. Sante Giulio Strologo then planted the first vines on land purchased in the hills.

In 1997, the Strologo winery then passed into the hands of his son Silvano and his wife Catia Schiaroli, who inherited the passion for making good wine and added an important push for modernisation, starting to collaborate with a great oenologist, Giancarlo Soverchia.

There are 14 hectares under vine south of Monte Conero.

The winery is located on the high, rocky stretch of the Adriatic coast that runs from the port of Ancona to that of Numana. The microclimate is particularly suited to the cultivation of local grapes: the grapes grow among the hills warmed by the sun's rays and enjoy mild temperatures thanks to their proximity to the sea.
