Production and refinement

The Rheingau Riesling Trocken QbA "Hargardun" is produced with pure Riesling grapes from vines over 40 years old.

After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo a 24-hour skin maceration before alcoholic fermentation, which lasts for 5 months in wooden containers. Maturation takes place in large barrels for at least 8 months.

Bibo Runge

Hellgarten, a small German village located in the Rheingau area, is where the wines of the Bibo Runge winery originate. The company was founded in 2013 by Walter Bibo and Markus Bonsels, both united by a great passion for wine, with significant experience gained at other wineries in the region.

The Rheingau is characterized by the Rhine River, which, besides painting a beautiful landscape, contributes to the uniqueness of the microclimate, influencing the ripening of the grapes.

Bibo Runge

Bibo Runge's philosophy is centered on a fundamental principle: patience. To achieve the highest possible quality, long macerations on the skins are carried out, followed by extended fermentations and maturation in wood. Riesling, the only variety cultivated by the company, is thus enhanced in different versions ranging from the "trocken," the one with the least residual sugar, to the seductive Rheingau Riesling Spätlese QbA "Winkeler Hasensprung," from late-harvested grapes. Bibo Runge also produces a classic method sparkling wine, always from Riesling grapes, with 18 months of yeast aging. The wines mature in ancient cellars located in the heart of Hellgarten, a locality boasting over 900 years of viticultural history.

Bibo Runge is synonymous with wines of strong character, capable of reflecting in the glass all the complexity of the grapes and the greatness of a unique territory in the world.

Rheingau

The best region in the world for Riesling production

Rheingau

The Rheingau is located west of Frankfurt, along the northern and eastern banks of the Rhine River. It is the best region in the world for the production of Riesling, which is the predominant grape variety here, accounting for 80% of the grapes cultivated.

Rheingau Rieslings are very different from those of Mosel or Palatinate: they are highly aromatic, fruity and floral, round and full-bodied, with less pronounced acidity. The Rheingau also produces extraordinary Auslese, Beerenauslese, and Trockenbeerenauslese wines. Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) is also grown in the Rheingau, producing red wines with typically spicy and bitter almond aromas.

The favorable climatic conditions and the influence of the Rhine River, which reflects the light and heat of the sun, ensuring more consistent grape ripening, are crucial factors.

Oestrich

Oestrich is a locality in Germany's Rheingau region with a long viticultural tradition dating back many centuries. Its current symbol is the wine-loading crane situated on the riverbank, which was used until 1924 to load wine barrels using only human power. Today, during the summer months, the crane is open to visitors. The crane operator's house is located just a few steps away in the town center.

Very little is known about Oestrich's history before the 12th century. Life in this town primarily revolved around the market square. In the 17th and 18th centuries, wealthy families built their villas along the riverbank. The beautiful half-timbered houses, surrounded by birches and willows on the riverside, can still be admired today.

Oestrich also boasts a valley with a stream, many vineyards, old mills, and monasteries in the Gottesthal locality.

A wine-making tradition that dates back centuries.
