NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful pale yellow with golden reflections;

👃🏻 the nose is aromatic, intense and complex, with great finesse; it expresses itself on notes of citrus, apricot and apple enriched by intriguing hints of minerality, ginger, musk and spices;

👄 on the palate it is round, dry and fresh and stands on the fruity notes perceived on the nose. Its beautiful structure and freshness make it an important wine, with a pleasantly mineral finish.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This white is a wine with great character, that's why it loves intense and aromatic dishes. To pair with cold cuts, pork, salmon or even tuna. For a territorial pairing, try it with choucroute d'Alsace.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

Blend of Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Gewürztraminer. The organically grown grapes are selected, the crushing-destemming is soft and the alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature. Refinement in steel follows, to guarantee and preserve the quality of the grapes.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its freshness.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Alsace, a land of exceptional wines. Here, the cultivation of the vine was introduced by the Romans and its development increased in the following centuries. The production of Alsatian wines goes through two phases of decline, linked both to the Thirty Years War and to the invasion of phylloxera, two centuries later. The climate is continental, with dry and sunny autumns that allow the maximum concentration of sugar and aromatic substances within the berries and the harvesting of the grapes in full phenolic ripeness.
Furthermore, the grapes can also be harvested in late harvest, when the Botrytis Cinerea has carried out its admirable action and enriched the grapes with what will give life to unique, incredibly fragrant wines: the Sélection de Grains Nobles.
Another peculiarity of this territory is the sudden variability of the soils: an alternation of granite and limestone, with a myriad of solutions in which clay, schist and gypsum intervene, able to offer the vines much more subtle and intense aromatic nuances, fruity and mineral. Here, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Muscat d'Alsace, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc are grown.

WINERY

Meyer-Fonné has been a family business for three generations. The founder is Félix Meyer (1877-1964) who was the first to start the production. Since then their vine system has been greatly modernized, the vineyard expanded (today they cultivate 15 hectares) diversifying the Grand crus.

Within the property, the soils, altitudes and exposure levels are very varied: they range from filtering alluvial deposits to rich and deep clayey sandstone soils, passing through granitic ones; we pass from the plain to the vineyards at altitude; the degrees of exposure are also very varied, ranging from the cooler western part, suitable for the earliest vines, to the south-facing part, very warm and sunny. This great variety of terroir is a particularity and a great wealth. The winery philosophy is to adapt the work in the vineyard, and in the cellar, to the rhythms of the nature of each particle of land to get the best out of each. Thus, the vines on light and filtering soils are plowed (to avoid competition from weeds), the more traditional ones are grassed on alternate rows, the richer and more humid soils are completely grassed. In steeply sloping plots (25% of their vineyard) the work is exclusively manual.

Agriculture is organic and no chemical fertilizers are used in the management of the vineyard, to obtain genuine and very high quality wines.
