NOTES BY OUS SOMMELIERS

👁 of a beautiful and intense pale yellow;

👃🏻 the nose expresses a fruity bouquet of ripe yellow fruit, floral hints with a slightly aromatic finish;

👄 on the palate it is fresh and intense, highly drinkable, characterized by an excellent balance and good harmony.

FOOD PAIRING

This Cortese is a wine with a great drinkability and is able to perfectly pair with light or medium intense dishes. We recommend it with vegetable risotto or fish appetizers.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

A Cortese that expresses perfectly the Monferrato terroir. The grapes are produced in vineyards with predominantly clayey and marly soils at about 300 meters above sea level; after being harvested manually, they are fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine matures in steel in contact with the fine lees and for a 3 months period in the bottle before being released in the market.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its drinkability.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in the Alto Monferrato, one of the most interesting and varied landscape regions of the entire Italian wine territory.
Starting from the north, there are the flat territories of Casale Monferrato, which gently transform into the hills of the Astigiano Monferrato to end with the heights of the Ligurian Apennines. This orographic complexity is the basis of the division of the area in Basso Monferrato, corresponding to the flat north, Monferrato Astigiano, the central and western side, and Alto Monferrato, the area with the most consistent mountains. In 2014, UNESCO included Monferrato among the World Heritage Sites, together with Langhe and Roero.
An important recognition aimed at safeguarding a wonderful territory and its values linked to peasant traditions. The varieties that appear in historical documents are mainly Dolcetto, Barbera, Brachetto, Moscato and Cortese; but also the almost unknown grape Nibiö (red) and Timorasso (white berried), both indigenous to Alessandria, rediscovered by a few courageous winemakers.
Albarossa, another typical variety of Alto Monferrato, is a crossbreed between Nebbiolo di Dronero and Barbera, created by the ampelographer Giovanni Dalmasso towards the end of the 1930s and recognized in 2001 as a variety suitable for cultivation and winemaking.

WINERY

Luigi Tacchino is a winery in Monferrato, Piedmont. The family has been producing quality wines for three generations; the winery is now carried on by Alessio and Romina, who inherited the passion from their father and grandfather, the latter being the founder of the company during the second half of the last century. The winery produces traditional wines based on Gavi grapes for the whites, Dolcetto and Barbera del Monferrato for the red wines, in its 12 hectares dedicated to viticulture. Alessio and Romina follow the advice of expert agronomists and oenologists in the various phases in the vineyard as well as in the winemaking processes, to produce wines that are the highest quality expression of the territory.
