NOTES FROM OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful ruby red color with violet hues;

👃🏻 to the nose is intense and persistent and gives intense fruity scents wrapped by the intriguing varietal almonds;

👄 the palate is very tasty and rich thanks to the body well supported by the smoothness of the many tannins.

FOOD PAIRING

This Dolcetto is a balanced wine having good intensity, persistence and tannins. It well pairs both first and second courses, such as cheeses and cold cuts. It was the wine with which 50-60 years ago people used to start the day "bagnando nell'olio" (bathing in oil), that is eating big slices of bread with oil, cheese, cold cuts...

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The winery is located in Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe, Unesco heritage since 2014. It is a land of ancient viticultural traditions, where wine was already known before the arrival of the Romans.

The Empire brought great contributions to viticulture, including the deforestation of a large part of the Langhe, at that time covered by thick woods. Langhe are subdivided in Alta and Bassa Langa: the latter is located in the north between Tanaro and Belbo rivers and it is renowned all over the world for prestigious wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco as well as Pelaverga, Dolcetto d'Alba and Dogliani, Nebbiolo and Barbera.

Alta Langa is instead located to the south and has steeper hills which can reach 750 meters (750 feet); here are produced Alta Langa, Moscato and Barbera as well as the rare Timorasso.
In particular, Alta Langa, thanks to the cultivation of chardonnay and pinot noir, over the years has been able to give Classic Method and Charmat sparkling wines renowned in the national and international panorama.

Soils
in the Langhe area are composed by clayey-calcareous sedimentary marls, interspersed by layers of more or less important marls of grey-blue color, an important characteristic to produce both full bodied red wines and fresh and fragrant bubbles.
The area of Langhe is characterized by a temperate continental climate, with the peak of rainfall generally fixed during the month of May.

CELLAR

The farm was founded in 1930 by Domenico Taliano, but has much deeper roots. Domenico in fact belongs to a family of farmers known in the village with the nickname "Re Cit" which means "little kings", they have always been dedicated to the work of vineyard and fields.
In the beginning vineyards were all within the commune of Montà, in the area of Bossola, Rolandi, Benna; towards the half of the seventies, under the guidance of his son Michele, the winery grew towards Langa acquiring vineyards and a farmstead in Montersino in the hamlet of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio of Alba, between the communes of Treiso and Barbaresco.
In the mid nineties Michele's sons relaunched the winery modifying the production methods of grapes and the aging of wine: Alberto first of all, supported, after many working experiences, by his brother Ezio, winemaker of the winery.
Vines cultivated are: nebbiolo, arneis, dolcetto and barbera.
A total of 15 hectares of vineyards and about 70,000 bottles per year: a family business with a production of tailor-made cuts.
Great attention to work in the vineyard, some good technical help in the cellar and time are the ingredients for a dozen very interesting labels.

They range from the classic grape varieties of Roero and Alba, i.e. Arneis, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, to Favorita (Vermentino as it is called in the Langhe), Moscato and Brachetto.
