Philippe Grisard

Philippe Grisard, with three generations of winemakers behind him, has always been passionate about local grape varieties and the territory.

A mountain man, in 2010 he redirected his activity to Cruet, a small Savoyard village located at the foot of the Regional Natural Park of the Massif des Bauges.

Philippe Grisard

The Grisard vineyard is spread across six municipalities.

The diversity of the soils allows for the production of a wide variety of wines. Convinced that the future of the area's vineyards lies in the authenticity and enhancement of local Alpine grape varieties, Philippe actively contributes to the new image of the sector. Between tradition and innovation, his wines reflect his idea of wine and his land.

Savoie

Savoie is a historical region in southeastern France, bordering Italy and Switzerland. The region is characterized by a mountainous landscape, dominated by the Graian Alps and the Pennine Alps, which occupy much of its surface. Alpine flora and fauna thrive on these mountains, including many rare and protected species that find an ideal environment among the valleys and gorges of Savoie.

In the foothill context of Savoie, the wines produced are mostly white, characterized by an unmistakable light and fresh style. The climate of Savoie is characterized by cold winters, hot summers, and frequent thunderstorms. The Alps shield against the cold winds blowing from the northeast.

The region is divided into four departments: Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Isère, and Ain, which present substantial differences in climate and temperature. This is also reflected in viticulture: the production of Haute-Savoie mainly involves very fresh white wines (about 70% of the total), while in southern Savoie, red wines are also produced.

The appellations of origin in Savoie are four:
- Vin de Savoie AOC;
- Roussette de Savoie AOC;
- Seyssel AOC;
- Crémant de Savoie AOC.

In turn, these are divided into 17 crus: Abymes or Les Abymes (white wines); Apremont (white wines); Arbin (red wines); Ayze (white sparkling wines); Chautagne (white and red wines); Chignin (white and red wines); Chignin-Bergeron (white wines); Crépy (white wines); Cruet (white wines); Frangy (white and red wines); Jongieux (white and red wines); Marignan (white wines); Marin (white wines); Montmélian (white wines); Ripaille (white wines); Saint-jean-de-la-porte (red wines); Saint-jeoire-prieuré (white wines).

Isère

Isère is one of the four departments that make up the wine region of Savoie, located in southeastern France. Known for its alpine landscapes and climatically diverse terrain, Savoie also includes the departments of Savoie, Haute-Savoie, and Ain. Isère, with its geographically favorable position, is characterized by a mountain climate with cold winters, hot summers, and frequent thunderstorms. The Alps act as a natural barrier against cold winds from the northeast, positively influencing the viticulture of the region.

The department of Isère is particularly known for its production of fresh and aromatic white wines. Grape varieties cultivated include Jacquère, Chardonnay, Aligoté, Mondeuse Blanche, Veltliner Rouge Précoce, Chasselas, Gringet, and Altesse. Additionally, Marsanne and Verdesse are varieties exclusively permitted in the department of Isère, although they represent a small fraction of the vineyard area.

The Vin de Savoie designation, which can be applied to wines produced throughout the region, allows for the production of white, red, rosé, and sparkling wines. White wines dominate production, thanks to the predominance of the Jacquère grape variety, but red varieties such as Mondeuse, Gamay, and Pinot Noir also find space in the region's vineyards.

Here, south-facing hills, soil characteristics, and favorable climate contribute to the production of high-quality wines. The wine-growing area of Isère extends along the river of the same name, with vineyards located on limestone and clay soils. This environment allows for the cultivation of ungrafted vines, maximizing the characteristics of local grapes.

Isère significantly contributes to the diversity and quality of Savoie wines, offering products that reflect the unique character of the alpine territory.
