NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 intense ruby red with garnet highlights;

👃🏻 the nose expresses a fruity bouquet (of raspberry and cherry), complemented by herbaceous and spicy notes;

👄 on the palate it is full-bodied, with good structure;

FOOD PAIRINGS

Greta Tantini's Corvina is a full-bodied wine, intense and persistent, with a fair amount of tannin: it should therefore be paired with dishes that are succulent and robust. Try it with mature cheeses, lamb, game, but also with dried fruit. We recommend it with roast pork.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINING

The wine is made from a pure expression of corvina, the main red berry variety of the Veronese territory, whose grapes are obtained from vineyards planted in gravelly, calcareous soils of glacial origin at an altitude of 100 metres facing south.

The overripe grapes are harvested by hand in mid-November and destemmed, followed by crushing, maceration and fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, with periodic delestage to optimise polyphenol extraction. The wine then undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation in French oak tonneaux and is aged for 24 months in tonneaux and 10 months in the bottle.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its intensity, persistence and structure.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The Giovanna Tantini farm is located in the municipalities of Castelnuovo del Garda and Sona, in the province of Verona, on the morainic hills overlooking Lake Garda.

Vines have been cultivated on the Garda hills since the Bronze Age.
The Romans then produced wine in the various rural villas whose remains have been found in various areas of the lake (Sirmione, Desenzano).
Production continued in the Middle Ages in the monasteries around the lake.

Today, well-tended vineyards and olive groves characterise the landscape of the hills surrounding the coast. The southern part of Lake Garda is characterised by the gentle hills of the morainic amphitheatre that embraces the coast from east to west: these are the reliefs formed by the accumulation of debris transported by the glacier that gave life to the lake during the glaciations. The land is particularly suited to the cultivation of vines.

WINERY

Giovanna Tantini has succeeded in just a few years in distinguishing herself and emerging in the production of excellent Bardolino, on which she places particular emphasis as one of the oldest red wines in Italy, but which, according to Giovanna, does not enjoy the right reputation. She has decided to focus on quality.

Starting from these foundations, her objectives take the form of very scrupulous work in the vineyard and interventions in the cellar that restore authentic expressions of the Bardolino territory to the glass. Giovanna

Tantini cultivates and produces the traditional varieties of the territory, such as corvina, rondinella, garganega, trebbianello and molinara, as well as the international ones that have been able to express themselves well among the morainic hills around Lake Garda, such as merlot, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon.
