REFINEMENT

A pure Cortese that expresses the Monferrato terroir . From a vineyard located 350 meters above sea level, from a clayey marly soil. Manual harvest done only when fully ripe, subsequent fermentation in an autoclave at a controlled temperature. At the end of fermentation the natural second fermentation takes place. The resulting sparkling wine is stored on the fine lees for a few months before being bottled, where it ages for at least 1 and a half months.

TERRITORY OF ORIGIN

TERROR

We are in Alto Monferrato , one of the most interesting and varied regions in terms of landscape, history and oenology in the entire Italian panorama.

It is characterized by a landscape which, starting from the north, begins with the flat territories of Casale Monferrato, which gently transform into the hills of the Monferrato Astigiano to end with the heights of the Ligurian Apennines. Precisely this orographic complexity is the basis of the division of the area into Basso Monferrato, corresponding to the flat north, Monferrato Astigiano, the central and western strip, and Alto Monferrato, the area with the most consistent reliefs. In 2014, UNESCO included Monferrato among the World Heritage Sites, together with Langhe and Roero.

An important recognition aimed at safeguarding a wonderful territory and its values linked to peasant traditions. The varieties that appear in historical documents are mainly Dolcetto, Barbera, Brachetto, Moscato and Cortese; but there is also room for the unknown seeds nibiö (red berry) and timorasso (white berry), both native to the Alessandria area, rediscovered by a few courageous producers.

Albarossa, another typical variety of Alto Monferrato, is a cross between Nebbiolo di Dronero and Barbera, created by the ampelographer Giovanni Dalmasso towards the end of the 1930s and recognized in 2001 as a variety suitable for cultivation and winemaking.

CELLAR

Luigi Tacchino is an agricultural company in Monferrato, Piedmont. The family has been involved in quality wine production for three generations ; the business is today carried on by Alessio and Romina, who inherited the passion from their father and grandfather, founder of the company in the second half of the last century. The company produces traditional wines based on Gavi grapes for the whites, Dolcetto and Barbera del Monferrato for the red wines, in its 12 hectares dedicated to viticulture. Alessio and Romina avail themselves of the advice of expert agronomists and oenologists in the various phases in the vineyard as well as in the winemaking operations, to produce wines that are the highest possible expression of the territory.
