NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful bright garnet red;

👃🏻 the nose expresses a bouquet of aromas that leads to small red fruits, with an light note of vanilla and chocolate;

👄 on the palate it is broad, dense with harmonious and juicy aromas, which give an enveloping and soft sip.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is a persistent wine that pairs very well with intense and complex dishes. Ideal with first courses based on fresh pasta with game meat sauces as well as second meat courses; also great for moments of meditation, alone.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

From the hills of San Floriano del Collio, this red is made as a typical Bordeaux cuvée, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes (that found here their perfect habitat), grown at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level and great exposure to the south. Grapes are selected and harvested manually in September, taken to the cellar, de-stemmed, crushed and left to macerate in contact with the skins for 20 days; skins are pressed and left to ferment in thermo-controlled steel barrels, with regular manual punching down of the marc cap, three times a day. The wine then refines for 7 months in contact with the yeasts; it is then filtered and bottled.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

the deep territoriality that it expresses.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The winery is located in San Floriano del Collio, on the border between Italy and Slovenia. The optimal pedoclimatic conditions have allowed the cultivation of indigenous grape varieties of the Eastern Hills, cultivated here since forever, as well as other varieties from different European areas, which have adapted perfectly to the territory, achieving considerable results in terms of quality.
Friuli Colli Orientali production, contained in terms of quantity, is characterized by manual harvests and the discreet use of the most modern oenological techniques; tradition and modernity come together to maintain the integrity of the product, ensure high quality and give unique sensations to the tasting thanks to the centuries-old and happy interaction between man-grape-land. The native vines grown in the Friuli Colli Orientali area are Malvasia, Picolit, Pignolo, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Rebula, Schioppettino, Tazzelenghe, Tocai friulano and Verduzzo friulano. Some grapes are documented in the territory since Roman times.

WINERY

The Draga Miklus farm is a winery in Friuli Venezia Giulia located in the small town of San Floriano del Collio, on the border between Italy and Slovenia, a few kilometers from the city of Gorizia, in the famous hilly area of Collio, a land of great vineyards and great wines, thanks to the particular microclimate, characterized on the one hand by the protection of the Alps from the cold currents coming from the north, and by the other from the southern influence of the Adriatic Sea. The area of San Floriano del Collio, inside the Colli Orientali del Friuli, is perfect to grow the most important local white variety such as the Ribolla gialla, where some of the best expressions are found precisely in this area. From the Ribolla gialla (in the still version, sparkling and even macerated), up to the pure expressions of Sauvignon Blanc, Friuliano, Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Malvasia from the Collio area, this winery's products are highly appreciated by winelovers and experts.
