NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 A beautiful bright straw yellow;

👃🏻 on the nose it expresses itself on delicate tones, with floral and fruity hints;

👄in the mouth the taste is balanced and rich, still played on the notes of ripe yellow fruit, with a pleasant fresh and sapid trace; fine and elegant.

FOOD PAIRINGS

A Chardonnay ideal as an aperitif or to accompany first and second courses based on fish and seafood.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

A Chardonnay with fine and pleasant aromas, obtained from a careful selection of grapes harvested at full ripeness and from different parcels from a vineyard characterised by limestone soil. After pressing and a 15-day fermentation at a low temperature, it matures in stainless steel to enhance the freshness and varietal aromas of the vine.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Narbonne, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, between the Rhone and the Pyrenees, one of the largest wine-producing areas in France.

Languedoc-Roussillon owes its fame to its characteristic and pleasant Mediterranean atmosphere, its varied landscapes, between sea and mountains, just a stone's throw from Spain. The diversity of territories, climates and soils results in unique soil and climate characteristics that are particularly favourable to vine cultivation. White, red and rosé wines are produced, as well as the famous Vin Doux Naturel (the most famous of which are made from white Muscat) and natural sweet wines such as the AOC Banyuls.

Even today, Languedoc-Roussillon produces more than a third of all French wine. These factors have led to an underestimation of the potential of the area, which in more recent times, by improving grape quality, selecting vineyards and modernising wine-making practices, has rightfully become one of the most interesting wine regions in France. The wine region is divided into two distinct areas: Languedoc, further east, which is predominantly flat and Roussillon, further south near the Pyrenees.

The main grape varieties of the region are grenache noir, carignan, cinsault, mouvèdre, terret noir, syrah. Among the white grapes, the main ones are chardonnay, chenin blanc, clairette, Muscat of Alexandria, viognier and mauzac. Before the phylloxera, over 150 different varieties were cultivated in Languedoc-Roussillon, whereas today, production has become more concentrated, also in terms of quality.

WINERY

The company is very old, having been founded in 1919. Paul Herpe is in fact one of the oldest wine producers in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. His love of the land, his passion for wine and the work of three generations in the 30 hectares of vines he owns make him a reference point for viticulture in this area of southern France.

The Maison, in fact, has always integrated traditional practice with experimentation and avant-garde methods that have led it in recent years to produce excellent wines that are making a name for themselves among wine enthusiasts: Paul Harpe focuses on the quality of its wines and has built a strong and prestigious brand over time.

The company produces different types of wines from its two estate vineyards, Château Couderc and Le Clos des Oliviers, offering representative products such as AOC Minervois, Fitou and Corbières, Blanquette de Limoux and AOC Banyuls.
