NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 of a beautiful intense straw yellow;

👃🏻 the nose expresses aromas of acacia flowers with fruity notes of peach and ripe apricot; slightly spicy the finish;

👄 on the palate it is a balanced wine, with a nice sapidity, characterized by a harmonious and intense taste.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Brezanka is a versatile and balanced wine. It pairs well with food with intensity and body. A perfect wine to accompany with mature, blue and spicy cheeses at the end of the meal, but also with game-based second courses.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

A wine from Breg, an area of Friuli region that descends from the Karst edge to the Adriatic Sea; the wine is already attested in the Nineteenth century in the taverns of Vienna and Ljubljana, as evidenced by the local literature. The wine comes from a selection of 15 different grape varieties, some of which are native to Trieste and others to the Collio. Selection of 15 grapes, including glera, Istrian malvasia or vitovska, others typical of the Friulian collio, such as Friulian tocai, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc and Ribolla gialla, and still some with a ungrafted vineyard still not registered in the world bank of the dna of the grapes.
The harvest takes place only by hand, the harvested grapes are de-stemmed, pressed and left to macerate and ferment on their own yeasts.
The skins are then pressed, and the wine ferments in large Slavonian oak barrels, where it will remain until bottling, always done in the waning moon phase, as per the tradition of the Friulian winery.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOT

its versatiity.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in the Karst region, between Slovenia and Italy: an area characterized by the presence of karst, that is a rocky surfaces, with a bare appearance and even significant depressions. All this constitutes an important limitation for agriculture. Furthermore, the Karst is characterized by the presence of caves and caverns, which help to drain all the rainwater in a short time, which is only partially retained by the little red soil of the Karst.
This type of terroir gives the wines compact and deep colors, intense and varied aromas, mineral sensations, good structure and decidedly long-lived products. Finally, the Karst is also famous for its sparkling wines.
Local viticulture boasts a great tradition regarding the production of sparkling wines: Prosecco, a town in the province of Trieste that gives its name to the well-known wine, or Prosekar in the Slovenian version, was actually a sweet wine at the beginning, only to become the sparkling wine we know from the Nineteenth century.
Over time, local production has diminished and only recently they are trying to recover it. The production of quality sparkling wines is therefore recent, both with the Charmat and the Classic method. The main grapes cultivated are Malvasia, Vitovska, Terrano and Refosco.

WINERY

The Rado Kocjančič winery is located in San Dorligo della Valle, in the province of Trieste, a municipality in Italy, closed to Slovenia, in a very special area, between the Karst plateau and Istria. Rado, after an experience in a winery in San Francisco in California, returns to Italy, in his territory, to resume the work and agricultural tradition left him by his ancestors, that of viticulture and olive growing.
Between 1999 and 2000, with the help of his father and brother, he undertook his own cultivation of vineyards and olives, starting from some owned land and others rented, arriving to plant about 15 thousand vines and 600 olive trees.
Among the white wines Rado Kocjančič produces varieties such as Istrian Malvasia, Vitovska and Moscato Giallo, as regards the white grape varieties, while among the reds it produces wines such as Refosco and Rosso, a blend of Refosco, Merlot and Cabernet and Sauvignon grapes.

Un bianco travestito da rosso

Profumo e colore piacevolmente intensi. Bevuto con un secondo di cinghiale, ed è stato davvero un abbinamento azzeccato. Un bianco che sembra un rosso per la sua corposità. Manca il tipico acidulo dei vini bianchi che da il plus in più. Davvero apprezzato.

ottimo bianco

Profumi inebrianti,colore giallo dorato. 15 uve a bacca bianca a formare un bouquet finissimo e delicato. Per quanto da utilizzare come vino da meditazione lo trovo ottimo in abbinamento a formaggi stagionati e fois gras. Consigliato come ottimo prodotto.
