NOTES FROM OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 Ruby red with good intensity and light garnet notes;

👃🏻 the nose is fruity and expresses notes of small red fruits with a prevalence of cassis and blackcurrants. Final with delicate spiciness;

👄 in the mouth it is delicate, soft, with excellent balance between alcohol and tannin. Good persistence and elegant final minerality. Complex and very elegant.

RECOMMENDED COMBINATION

We recommend opening it for at least an hour before being consumed. It should be accompanied with refined dishes, capable of matching the elegance of the full-bodied and fragrant wine. For those who love meat, go ahead with roasts, game and mature cheeses of all kinds. For some solutions vegetarian and excellent with first courses with truffles or mushrooms.

REFINEMENT

Pure Nebbiolo, from a vineyard with plants from the early seventies and late eighties. Maceration with the skins in steel tanks at a controlled temperature for 20-25 days, starting from a cold maceration. Very smooth extraction with only a couple of pump overs per day. Then it is drawn off and the malolactic fermentation still takes place in steel. Around December the wine is placed in small oak barrels: 30% new and 70% second and third passage, where it remains for 24 months. After being decanted in stainless steel, it is bottled without filtration or clarification.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its elegance.

TERRITORY OF ORIGIN

TERROR

The company is located in the heart of the Langhe, a UNESCO heritage site since 2014. It is a land of ancient winemaking traditions, where wine was already known before the arrival of the Romans. The Empire made great contributions to viticulture, including the deforestation of much of the Langhe, then covered in dense forest.

The Langhe is divided into Alta and Bassa Langa: the latter is located to the north between the Tanaro and Belbo rivers and is recognized throughout the world for prestigious wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco as well as Pelaverga, Dolcetto d'Alba and Dogliani to Nebbiolo and Barbera. The Alta Langa, on the other hand, is located further south and has steeper hills that reach up to 750 m; Alta Langa, Moscato and Barbera and the rare Timorasso are produced here.

In particular, the Alta Langa, thanks to the cultivation of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir over the years, has managed to produce Classic Method and Charmat sparkling wines renowned on the national and international scene. The soils of the Langhe are composed of sedimentary clay-limestone marl, interspersed with layers of more or less important grey-blue marl, an important characteristic for producing both full-bodied red wines and fresh, fragrant bubbles. The Langhe area is characterized by a temperate continental climate, with the peak of rainfall generally set during the month of May.

CELLAR

The history of the Veglio family in the world of wine began in the 1950s, when Angelo Veglio decided to invest in native vines in La Morra.

In the following years, the company expanded, acquiring prestigious vineyards such as Arborina and Rocche dell'Annunziata.

Mauro, who took over management at a very young age, carries out an ambitious modernization of the cellar and winemaking techniques, focusing on Barolo in an era in which the Langhe region is experiencing a wine transformation but making wine still means a life of sacrifices and little profit.

In 2017, the merger with his nephew Alessandro Veglio's company brings new energy and future prospects, always maintaining the focus on the quality and identity of their wines, evident in every sip.

They cultivate approximately 19 hectares of vineyards distributed between La Morra, Monforte, Barolo and Serralunga, on the Langhe hills.
