NOTES FROM OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 a beautiful intense ruby red, with garnet reflections;

👃🏻 on the nose the scent is intense and rich, with notes of ripe red fruit and jam, leather, tobacco and undergrowth, with notes of laurel and licorice;

👄 on the palate it shows its generosity with great intensity and an excellent balance between softness and well-present but amalgamated tannins. Along the licorice finish that leaves a tasty and intense memory.

PAIRINGS

An intense, complex and structured wine, perfect to be consumed in combination with dishes with succulence, aromatic persistence and intensity. Perfect to combine with goat and sheep meat typical of Abruzzo cuisine, important roasts and aged cheeses.

WINE-MAKING AND REFINEMENT

Vineyards with clayey-loamy soil, manual harvest, very accurate, at the end of September; alcoholic fermentation with skins for 15 days in terracotta amphora, filtration not carried out, malolactic fermentation. A complex and atypical Montepulciano, which ages in terracotta amphorae for 11 months.

YOU'LL LOVE IT FOR...

its complexity.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

We are in Atri, in the fantastic Teramo Hills, the homeland of Montepulciano. The territory extends to the north of the region, located between the altitudes of the Gran Sasso and the coasts of the Adriatic, the landscape is enchanting, thanks also to the wonderful vineyards treated like a noble garden. A particular soil structure and an excellent microclimate favor the production of a wine with peculiar organoleptic sensations, which is well suited to aging.

The main wine is Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (produced from the Montepulciano vine of the same name), the only Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin in the Abruzzo Region. The affected area includes a large strip of the coastal and inland hills of the province of Teramo, which in the central-northern part extends as far as the foot of the Gran Sasso massif and the Monti della Laga.

WINERY

It all began in 2005 when Simone Binelli followed his great passion and decided to make wine, and with the support of his wife he enrolled in Viticulture and Enology at the University of Florence. A path that led him in 2008 to abandon his job as a pharmacist and start cultivating the vineyard.

Thus was born Ausonia, a small and charming farm in Atri, in the province of Teramo, a winery that favors the typical varieties of the area: from pecorino to trebbiano up to Montepulciano.

All their work takes place with the utmost respect for nature, and since 2016 the company has been certified biodynamic. Their wines want to be an expression of their territory and of the vintage

Their wines are produced in 12 hectares of vineyards, all very elegant and expressive, faithful witnesses of the territory and of the vintage that saw them born.
