NOTES BY OUR SOMMELIERS

👁 straw yellow in colour with a delicate and persistent perlage;

👃🏻 the nose reveals fragrant, fruity and floral scents, with a subtly citrus finish;

👄 a full, saline, fresh taste with a long finish. The finish recalls lees and slight mineral hints;

FOOD PAIRINGS

Alta Langa Brut is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that balances softness and hardness. It is perfect as an aperitif, but also in combination with savoury first and second courses of white meat and with seafood cuisine. In particular, it goes perfectly with spaghetti with clams.

WINE MAKING AND REFINEMENT

The grapes are selected and harvested by hand in the last ten days of September in 20 kg perforated crates. Soft pressing with elimination of the coloured fraction and obtainment of the first-pressing must.
Clarification and addition of selected yeasts and conduction of alcoholic fermentation at a temperature of 15° C, partly in French oak barriques, partly in temperature-controlled tanks.
This is followed by a period on the lees and weekly batonnage. 36 months on the lees.

YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...

its freshness, fragrance and balanced acidity.

ORIGIN

TERROIR

The winery is located in Loazzolo, in the province of Asti in the Alta Langa area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014. It is a land of ancient winemaking traditions, where wine was already known long before the arrival of the Roman conqueror.

It is a very suitable area for the cultivation of pinot noir and chardonnay, and over the years it has succeeded in producing classic method and charmat sparkling wines that are well known on the national and international scene. Alta Langa, on the other hand, is located further south and has hills that are much steeper and reach up to 750 metres above sea level.

Here, Alta Langa, Moscato and Barbera as well as Timorasso are produced. The soils of the Langhe are composed of clayey-calcareous sedimentary marls, interspersed with layers of grey-blue marls, an important characteristic for producing both full-bodied red wines and fresh, fragrant bubbles. The Langhe area is characterised by a temperate continental climate, with the peak of rainfall generally fixed during the month of May.

WINERY

The winery is located in Loazzolo, in the province of Asti. The logo of the winery is represented by the image of the wolf, which is present in the coat of arms of the municipality of Loazzolo. The farm covers 60 hectares, 31 of which are vineyards.

The place name "Loazzolo" derives from the Latin "Lupatolium", meaning the place where wolves roam, the ancient Latin name for Loazzolo. And a stream of wolves runs right near Cascina Pianbello: here, the Cirio family, which boasts years of an intimately farming history dedicated to the production of quality wine, makes the most of the exceptional resources that these lands offer, producing for two generations the typical wines of the Langa of Asti and Canelli. The Pianbello winery's grape production systems are traditional and based on ancient knowledge and experience, with wine-making processes that respect the highest quality criteria.
