👁 of a beautiful intense ruby red.

👃🏻 to the nose it expresses a fine bouquet, including blackberry, wild berries, hints of thyme, mint, spices, pepper, eucalyptus and resin;

ORIGIN:

TERROIR

Calabria is one of the least known territories in Italy, but it has potential that intrigue even the most experienced palates.

The company is located in the Verzano district, a hamlet of Donnici Inferiore, in the province of Cosenza.
The climate in the area is influenced by the geographical conformation that sees it located in a valley surrounded by mountain ranges, such as the Pollino and the Sila, which block the ventilation from the sea; this results in high temperatures in the summer and very cold in the winter months.In the province there are two of the nine DOCs of Calabria.

The Savuto DOC (shared with the province of Catanzaro.) Is dedicated to wines produced with the grapes of the montonico, chardonnay, greco bianco, malvasia bianca, gaglioppo, aglianico, greco nero and nerello cappuccio varieties, vinified in the white, red and rosé.

The Terre di Cosenza DOC is more recent and dates back to 2011, born by merging pre-existing denominations.
Seven sub-zones: Colline del Crati, Condoleo, Donnici, Esaro, Pollino, San Vito di Luzzi and Verbicaro.

In this area the harvested grapes are: magliocco canino, greco nero, gaglioppo, aglianico, calabrese, greco bianco, guernaccia bianca, pecorello, malvasia bianca, montonico, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and sangiovese .

The disciplinary provides for the types of red, including reserve, passito, late harvest, new, rosé, also sparkling, white, even sparkling, as well as those specific to the single grape varieties vinified in purity. In the province of Cosenza there is also the regional denomination Cosenza IGT.

WINERY

Rocca Brettia is a small calabrian winery that collects an ancient cultural heritage, with wines that proudly represent the traditions of Calabria.

The company's vineyards, excellently exposed, extend over a large hillock, 500 m above sea level, in Donnici Inferiore, a fraction of Cosenza, surrounded by the colors of the Mediterranean scrub and protected by centuries-old olive trees, sheltered from the cool winds of the Sila .

The passion of the company is intertwined with a strong territorial vocation, to give life to a small range of wines that tell the deep bond with the territory and the pristine charm of nature.
