Marotti Campi - Marche

Marotti Campi - Marche

Marotti Campi is a totally family-run agricultural company.

In the mid-nineteenth century our family purchased the property in the Sant'Amico district of Morro d'Alba and built the villa there as the center of the sharecropping company. The first vineyard - attested by ancient documents - had 8,000 plants grown using Gouyot (the cultivation system that we still maintain today). At the time the main crop was wheat together with other arable crops, but over the years and with the generational changes, following the vocation of this land, a predominantly viticultural direction was taken.

In 1991 we began a project to modernize the vineyards by rationalizing production and concentrating it on the two most representative and typical vines of the area: Verdicchio and Lacrima di Morro d'Alba .

We cultivate 53 hectares of vines, on the hills, around 180 meters above sea level. The soils are of medium texture with a good presence of clay. There are three main plots near the villa. The surface is mainly divided between Lacrima and Verdicchio, with plants that are between 35 and 10 years old .

The Lacrima di Morro d'Alba is an ancient vine with semi-aromatic traits grown exclusively in our territory, in Morro d'Alba and in the neighboring municipalities. Verdicchio is a very ancient, native vine, the true pride of Marche oenology, which in this territory has found the environment and the men to give life to unique wines, among the most important whites in Italy. It is extremely versatile and can be interpreted in many ways, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, to produce fresher and more immediate banks or reserves of great structure and complexity, with the ability to evolve over the years and to give great emotions to those who want to wait for. Again, it can be made sparkling or dried. It has an expressive richness that never tires.

Aware that the environment is a legacy that we pass down from generation to generation, we practice agriculture with low environmental impact : we do not use water for irrigation, we limit treatments to what is strictly necessary to guarantee a balance between plant, soil and surrounding environment and we choose low-dose and truly limited-impact products.
