Le Battistelle is a small family-run agricultural business in the heart of the Soave Classico, (Classico indicates the historical area limited only to the hills of the municipalities of Soave and Monteforte D'Alpone), in the province of Verona.
The winery was founded in 2002 from the decision to start making its own wine from the grapes that were previously given to the cooperative winery. These are 10 hectares divided into many small vineyard parcels across the hills of Brognoligo. In particular, the side of “Le Battistelle” is located in the new geographical mention “Brognoligo” and gives its name to the winery; while the “Roccolo del Durlo” vineyard is located in the geographical mention “Carbonare”.
The only vine used is the native Garganega which is interpreted in various wines thanks to the diversity of the soil of volcanic origin; here the Garganega matures and reveals all its potential, giving unique wines: a combination of structure and elegance surrounded by acidity and marked minerality.
Viticulture is respectful of nature : we only use the exclusively necessary agronomic practices, limiting the use of phytosanitary products with the aim of protecting the vines through integrated defence, convinced that viticulture is not just cultivating the vineyard, but also taking care of the 'environment.
The vineyards are extreme, certified " Heroic Viticulture " as they are located on steep slopes and terraces, where mechanization is impossible. The old dry stone walls make the context spectacular, requiring constant care, effort and high labor costs. Agricultural heritage recognized by the FAO as a world heritage site.
