Stage #5 of Sommelier Wine Box (July 2018) was led by Enrico Ulisse Avanzi , engineer, gastronome and sommelier!
Ulysses took us on a journey to discover the Veneto border.
We are on the border between Friuli and Veneto: two philosophies that merge, a series of common vines and wines, a marked Venetian imprint . Therefore drinkable, very summery wines that we present, without sacrificing the quality and imprint of the territory, where the calcareous clays reign supreme. These are soils that give intense pigmentation, complex olfactory sensations, a certain richness in alcohol, softness and longevity. In addition to the soil and geological factors, the large presence of indigenous yeasts has an influence, giving unique wines in terms of structure and flavour. And the "freedom of fermentation" to which they are left determines a special mineral sensation in these wines. We are in a unique territory, full of traditions borrowed from both sides of the border, characterized by a cuisine (land and sea) and common wines.
