Unconventional Piedmont: not just Barolo and Barbaresco

Vitigni Barbaresco

Step #2

Stage #2 of Sommelier Wine Box (April 2018) was led by sommelier Gabriele Scalici , who guided us to discover unconventional Piedmont .

In Italy, in fact, the very concept of wine is rooted deep in our culture and there is no region where quality wine is not produced. There is something for all tastes and in the most disparate colours. White, red, orange, greenish, we have the largest basin in the world from which to draw the raw material to make a unique wine. It is precisely in this context that Gabriele made us better acquainted with an already very famous region such as Piedmont, the birthplace of some of the most appreciated wines in the world, such as Barolo and Barbaresco, but through its other special and rare wine expressions. We discovered some small productions from lesser-known territories, of an artisanal nature, carried out with sacrifice by people whose hands are soaked and colored with that material which in the future will become wine. They are gems that are part of that cultural heritage that not only cannot be forgotten, but which deserves to be explored and defended .

The three wineries proposed are I Carpini , Mario Rivetti and Fontanabianca .
