To guide Stage #38 of the Sommelier Wine Box ( May 2021 ) we turned to Marco Barbetti, best sommelier in Italy FISAR 2018, who told us his story.
Here is the sommelier Marco Barbetti:
“The first serious approach I had with wine was in 2007, struck – as happens to many – by the magic and amazement that one feels when perceiving the aromas given by tasting a glass.
After that "first time", I began my training journey with the FISAR sommelier courses, thanks to which I became forever passionate about every nuance of this world so full of passion. The bond was now created: the more I learned, the more I discovered new things to learn, so I continued to become a speaker and course director.
And then I really enjoyed the practical aspects, including the elegant world of services, which I explored in depth by completing a master's degree from the association, later becoming services manager for my delegation, Bareggio.
In 2017 I decided to get involved by enrolling in the " Best Sommelier of the Year 2018 " competition organized by FISAR. The following twelve months of daily study, with the fundamental support of friends and colleagues, finally ended with my victory.
Today, in addition to delegation activities, I dedicate myself to discovering new production realities, convinced that the emotions in wine do not give it its name, but the passion and technique with which it is made. I also participate in the podcast Il vino lo porta io , with which I develop the more playful part, on food-wine pairings."
