NOTES FROM OUR SOMMELIERS
👁 of a beautiful intense and dark ruby red;
👃🏻 on the nose the scent is intense and rich , with notes of ripe red fruit, memories of black cherry, plum, currant, myrtle, dried flowers and spices, licorice root, vanilla, black pepper and tobacco;
👄 on the palate it shows its generosity with great intensity: it is dry and very warm , soft , quite fresh , good tannins and flavor , great and complex olfactory persistence .
Montepulciano is an intense, complex and structured wine characterized by excellent tannins and softness . For this reason we recommend it with dishes with succulence , aromatic persistence and intensity . Perfect to pair with grilled and baked lamb, seasoned pecorino, goat and sheep meat typical of Abruzzo cuisine.
Pure Montepulciano grown in the vineyards of Roseto degli Abruzzi, on hills 100 meters above sea level. Before the harvest, a selection of the grapes is made already during development in order to obtain a limited yield per hectare and increase quality. The harvest takes place during the second and third week of October. After a scrupulous selection of the bunches, there is fermentation at a controlled temperature. Bottling takes place in April four years after the harvest, after maturation in wooden barrels, refinement in oak barriques for 12 months and refinement in bottle for another 12.
YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR...
its structure and complexity .
TERRITORY OF ORIGIN
We are in the fantastic Teramo Hills, the homeland of Montepulciano. The territory extends to the north of the region, located between the altitudes of the Gran Sasso and the coasts of the Adriatic, the landscape is enchanting, thanks also to the wonderful vineyards cared for like a noble garden. A particular structure of the soil and an excellent microclimate favor the production of a wine with peculiar organoleptic sensations, which is well suited to ageing . The main wine is Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (produced from the Montepulciano vine of the same name), the only Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin in the Abruzzo Region. The affected area includes a large strip of coastal and internal hills in the province of Teramo, which in the central-northern part extends to the foot of the Gran Sasso massif and the Monti della Laga.
The Mazzarosa Devincenzi winery was born at the time of the Kingdom of Italy, by Senator Giuseppe Devincenzi. He was responsible for many innovations in the agronomic field in Abruzzo and, having completed his public duties, he dedicated himself to his company and established an important winemaking plant in the then municipality of Montepagano (now Roseto).
He combined attention towards agriculture with an interest in the construction of modern railways, capable of effectively connecting the territories; he had many relationships with foreign countries, especially with England and France, where he took inspiration for the construction of his cellar. He created a cutting- edge cellar, built right from the start with the idea of producing very high quality wines. Today it represents one of the oldest structures in the region, built in the second half of the nineteenth century, a historical and cultural reference for the entire region.
