Production and refinement

The wine is born in Monticelli Brusati, in the northeastern part of Franciacorta—a hilly area with a particularly favorable microclimate. The estate vineyards, managed with sustainable practices and manual work, lie within a single cru, a deliberate choice that allows for a genuine expression of the site's identity. Soil, climate, and vineyard orientation are interpreted with the vigneron's sensitivity, without the use of chemical herbicides. The harvest, carried out strictly by hand, involves only Chardonnay grapes.

After a gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by partial aging in barrique. The wine then rests for 8 months in both steel and wood before being bottled for the secondary fermentation, following the Metodo Classico. It ages on the lees for a full 80 months, with manual remuage and disgorgement carried out just before release. The dosage is zero, ensuring absolute purity of expression.

Organoleptic analysis

Visual exam

Bright pale yellow with green and golden reflections. The mousse is intense, with a fine and persistent perlage.

Olfactory examination

On the nose, the bouquet is broad and layered: the flesh of white fruit stands out, accompanied by notes of bread crust and evolved nuances, the result of its long aging.

Tasting

On the palate, it impresses with delicacy, roundness, and persistence. Soft yet taut, deep and precise, it captivates with elegance and structure. The finish is exceptionally refined.

Rizzini

Rizzini is a small, artisanal estate in Franciacorta, known for its bold choice to follow a path that diverges from the industrial standardization adopted by many of the region’s larger wineries. Built around a philosophy of essentialism—one grape variety, one plot, one vintage—the winery embraces a principle of subtraction: fewer interventions, greater attention to the rhythm of time.

Each label is produced only in the best vintages; those that don’t meet the high quality standards are sold off.

Rizzini

With just 2 hectares under vine and aging times that far exceed the requirements of the appellation, Rizzini offers a fresh and distinctive take on Franciacorta. The estate draws inspiration from Burgundy and the small grower-producers of Champagne, embodying a youthful, original spirit.

Lombardy

The first evidence of vine cultivation in Lombardy dates back to prehistoric settlements on the lakes of Garda and Iseo, but it is only in contemporary times - post-phylloxera - that the focus has been on quality, also thanks to the introduction of American vine rootstocks. Thanks to the diversity of terroirs, viticulture here has given rise to a prominent ampelographic landscape, with a multitude of native grape varieties and wines that are a pride not only for the peninsula but also abroad (first and foremost Franciacorta DOCG, appreciated worldwide).

Lombardy is very extensive, therefore it presents areas with different characteristics both in terms of climate and soil. There are decidedly mountainous areas, as well as flat or partially hilly areas.
The main production areas are concentrated in the southern foothills, with the Garda area (with its unique microclimate thanks to the influence of the lakes), Oltrepò Pavese to the west, Brescia and Bergamo in the central part of the region, and Valtellina on the border with Austria.

In the region, wines of all types are produced, and there are five DOCG regions: Franciacorta in Brescia, Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico in the province of Pavia, Moscato di Scanzo in Bergamo (the smallest denomination in Italy), and Sforzato di Valtellina and Valtellina Superiore in the province of Sondrio.

Franciacorta

The Franciacorta is one of the most important wine territories in Italy. It overlooks Lake Iseo and extends to Brescia. The hilly landscape is covered with vineyards and shaped by small stone villages, crenellated towers, castles, prestigious wineries, ancient palaces, and silent monasteries. The expansion and retreat of the Adamello glacier have transported debris and enriched the soil in a very diversified and favorable way for viticulture.

The climate also contributes to characterizing the different areas of Franciacorta with the influence of mountain breezes from the north and the warm influences of the plain to the south, with a strong daily temperature range.

Franciacorta is the flagship wine of the area: an extremely elegant and structured sparkling wine, made with the Metodo Classico (Traditional Method) which involves the second fermentation in the bottle, for which several years of aging on the lees are required (18 months for Brut, 24 months for Satèn and Rosé, 30 months for vintage and 60 for Reserves). Depending on the residual sugar, it is classified as Pas Dosé, Extra Brut, Brut, Extra Dry, Dry, Demi Sec. Satèn, finally, is a Brut with a pressure lower than 5 atmospheres.

Franciacorta, an oenological jewel on Lake Iseo, reveals a hilly landscape dotted with vineyards and stone villages, where the soil enriched by the debris from the Adamello glacier creates optimal conditions for viticulture.
